Does it mean I cannot upgrade the latest JB to 5.6.1 at all?

That KUAL still works means that the JB was able to restore the installation of MKK.

I should read more before asking

successfully install Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.14.N_install.bin thru MRPI. I'm a happy camper now! thanks guys!!!!

Keep in mind that not every update is fundamentally necessary, the Changelog spoiler gives details on that.

In this case, 1.14 just added recovery options for factory resets.

Sorry hate asking the likely obvious question, I only pop in when new updates roll out.

Confirming my understanding. 5.6.1 breaks anything less than JB 1.13?

I was running 1.10 IIRC, i'm SOL?

Successfully upgraded to 5.6.1 and screensavers hack is working but it gives the message "The Screensavers Hack is currently in 'cover' mode, but hasn't yet successfully processed a book cover".

Attached is a photo of a message upon boot. "S cover mode setup"

Any ideas on what to do next?

Just to confirm I'm SOL too... I had jailbreak version 1.8 (filename update_jailbreak_bridge_1.8.N_install.bin) and opened my Kindle Paperwhite 2 today to find it had applied an OTA update, 5.6.1.

Is there anything that can be done to get the screensaver cover hack back without having to downgrade?

Buy a new one that is still shipping with the older version of the firmware.
Re-install everything on that Kindle.
You might want to install one (or both) of our OTA blockers this time.

The only thing you can do on the one with 5.6.1 installed (for now) is to read books.

Note: You need skill installing and using the serial port connection to downgrade this Kindle after updating to 5.6.1 without the current jailbreak and supporting stuff installed.

I suspected as much, but wanted to confirm, thanks.

Guess I'm gonna have to wait for NiLuJe and co. to come up with a solution for new firmwares. (Damn are the stock screensavers random and stupid).

Or freakin' typewriter keys. I almost wish I had a Special Offers version now, at least those screensavers change regularly instead of rotating the same 10 or so stupid random images Amazon includes.
