Not being insulting, just stating the obvious -
with 1/2 million users and only a single complaint of this type, then the choices are something local to the installation: *) The Device (its a PW-1, not likely that any device specific problems remain) *) The Installation (not likely, its scripted) *) The Installer (friend) OR *) The person (PEBKAC) Just being remindful of the last choice, something often overlook when frustrated by the unknown. OR You have a very early version of KUAL (before the introduction of suicidal Kindlets). Bring up (I.E: Open) the KUAL menu and post the device and version number shown on the line at the bottom edge of the screen. Last edited by knc1; 09-18-2016 at 03:39 PM. |

Got this set up and it's a marked improvement over the stock screensavers. However, I miss the ~ds function. There currently exists no low-level hack to completely disable screensaver/sleep functionality I take it? The transparent overlay screensaver is the closest we can come?

Ah, yes and no -
You can't (easily) disable it, but you can re-start the timer before it expires - - Either by touching the screen or running a script to do it for you. |

You have to use a two finger touch -
Touch two diagonally opposite corners at the same time to take a screen shot. |

That's an interesting solution, but I imagine a looping script sending a touch every ~4 minutes or so (if the timeout is 5 minutes--never measured myself) would cause more trouble than it's worth. :/ Oh well, thanks for the reply.

Just use an event system call to wait for the "going to screen saver" event. Reset the timer, test if it should continue, if so, wait again else exit. Actual examples to be found in several places around here and in the Wiki. |

Oh, in that case it sounds like a perfectly adequate workaround is possible. I'll look into it. It sounds like two touches are in order for the 'keepalive': a high touch to load toolbar, followed by a middle touch to send it away. Thanks again!

There is a multiplexer on the ";log" search bar command.
Currently has only one entery "mrpi". So you can edit that script to add the entires: ;log sleep-off ;log sleep-on That is the main search bar, so you will have to enter the commands before opening a document. Remember - you only have a few hours of run-time on a fully charged battery, it is best to keep the Kindle on external power. |

That just further proves how rude you are.
I have been on this site off and now for years now since I got my first Kindle -- and have seen you post repeatedly in this same obnoxious manner. . . . Last edited by gxn1; 09-20-2016 at 12:55 PM. |

What I see in where you asked is: ---------- Image Cycle (Default) Random Image Cycle Shuffle Image Cycle Last Screen / ---------- I really would LIKE to get my personal screensavers to show, but after the mess this was, I am not sure if I want to try. I do think I will save the entire contents of my Kindle on my computer and then, if someone can give constructive and clear advice of how to (possibly!) get my personal screensavers to work, I might want to try to do that again. The thing is, I *enjoy* making screensavers a lot and have something like 600-700 that I have made. I made 2-3 new ones every few days just for the fun of it. BUT since a year ago when Amazon "upgraded" [*SPIT*] the Kindle software, I haven't been able to use them and so stopped making them. ![]() Anyway -- if you or someone else who is helpful can give me instructions on how to do this, I would like to give it a try again. ![]() . . . @gxn1 it looks like you are in cover mode. Tap the first option -- Image Cycle (default). Then restart the framework by selecting screen savers > restart framework now.
Btw, I recommend you put only a few pictures in the screensavers folder to start with, pictures that you know worked previously. |

If using the snapshot from the snapshot thread, there is now a "fix all images" button.
Which probably also requires Python (from the same snapshots thread). |
