My voyage was updated to 5.7.2.1 OTA without my knowing, and the screensaver hack has stopped working. Browsing the filesystem still shows the linkss folder intact, and I can access KUAL from the home menu of the device still. Any ideas on how to bring the screensaver hack back?

I think you should reinstall it. Only jailbreak and extensions survives. Other .bin hacks should be reinstalled via mrpi

Amazon made me update to the latest version and now I get an error when running the installation. Any chance a fix is coming?

You do not mention your Kindle model, so will assume your info block and choice of thread to post in are correct.
You might even mention what firmware version number, just to give us a real break.

Try re-installing the jailbreak, and get it from NiLuJe's snapshot thread, not this thread.

Just wondering if there are any plans to support epub files as the cover mode? Currently it seems to only display last mobi read.

@erosco: No, that'd probably be better implemented on KOReader's side (with or without piggybacking on the hack, by the way).

Someone might even have already done it at one point (the piggybacking solution, I mean)?

The relevant code is already implemented on the Kobo side, it'd mostly just be rewiring stuff the right way ;p.

Hello! I was wondering if you could help me solve an issue.

I've installed all of the links provided by your original post and I currently have the custom screensaver activated (the one where it cycles through pictures you dropped in the linkss folder -> screensaver folder) when put into sleep mode.

However, I would like to switch my Kindle Paperwhite 2 to show the cover of the book I'm reading when its asleep instead. I can't seem to do it. So far I have tried dropping a file called 'cover' into the linkss folder hoping that it would override my screensavers. That didn't work so I decided to go into the KUAL program on my PW2 and switch it to cover mode, but whenever I open a book it just shows the 'Cannot load book cover yet' constantly after attempting opening other books and restarting.



Is there a solution to switching from cycle screensaver to current book cover for sleep mode?

Make sure you have installed Python, and that you restart the framework from within KUAL.

I restarted the framework within KUAL, but it still shows the screensavers that I put in the linkss folder. Is there some other step I'm missing to get the cover of the last book I read to display on sleep mode?

That you still see the python folder is no indication that the package is actually still installed .

So re-install it anyway.

Drop its package into /mrpackages and let MrPI have a go at it.

And if that does not work, when you report back, include the link that you used to download the Python package.

This did the trick! I needed to update Python apparently and follow NiLuJe instructions. Thank you guys, you have made me happy!
