And beware of Photoshop on Mac OSx - it has a habit of 'faking' grayscale (see the troubleshooting link in #10 of the FGA).

Hey guys,

I've just JB my kindle and installed KUAL and the Installer Helper, but I can't seem to get the screensaver hack installed. It goes through the motions, but no folders are made and the default screensavers stay in place.

I read the FAQ and made sure I was unplugging it before running the install, didn't help.

I looked in the mrinstaller.log file and found this;

[2016-03-09 @ 12:06:03 +0800] - Beginning the processing of package 'Update_linkss_0.24.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3.bin' (linkss 0.24.N I WARIO) . . .


Package 'Update_linkss_0.24.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3.bin' (linkss 0.24.N I WARIO) is not targeting your device [0G5 vs. REMOVED], skipping . . .

I removed what looks like a MAC address from the log because I assume it might be sensitive information? :P If you need it let me know.

Can anyone help?

That model has been supported since only the most recent KindleTool.

Can I just say to the moderators that NiLuJe's snapshot thread so needs to be sticked (IMHO). This type of error comes up all the time, and often you have to go to the second page of threads even to find it. Meanwhile, serial jailbreaking, now a whole lot less relevant, stays stickied. My 2 cents....

I admit, I suggested this about 2 years ago and got slammed, but I'm trying again. I think it would be tremendously helpful to newbies.

The screensavers hack changes your screensavers.
That does not work on a Special Offers device.

What other features did you think it might have???

Remove the screensavers hack. It is a waste of disk space for you.



Note: python is obviously a separate (dependency) hack... it remains quite usable. It's only in this thread because the screensavers hack is the primary consumer.

I was thinking to features related to screensavers of course, for exemple bypass swipe to unlock or whatever.
If you read what I quoted with my mind of a paperwhite newbie, all of this it is not so clear, it is just written that I can not bypass ads.

Maybe should be written something like:
Pre-requisites: Special offers unsubscription

Anyway, if you allow me a second newbie question: what other hack can request python installed?

"Prevent Screensaver" doesn't require an elaborate hack, it is a one-line shellscript bundled with the "Helper+" KUAL extension.
