K5 FW 5.x ScreenSavers Hack - Page 111

Assuming I jailbreak via the serial port, is it known whether the SS hack works with the Voyage & 5.6.2.1 or later? The main thing I would question would be whether the higher resolution screen is supported.

@ssholloway: it might in the long run, right now having a set of real files for a KFX book on hand might be more useful, though (my PW2 isn't running 5.6.5).

Here is a DRM-free, free PD book (the usual Gutenberg-or-whatever dumps by Amazon).

Hi there! I have a quick question/problem. I apologize if this is the wrong thread; it was the most applicable one I found...I updated KUAL and the screensaver hack to the most recent version (dated 08/15-ish) and now my screensavers don't work. When I push the button to turn off the screen, the backlight turns off, but nothing on the screen changes (the "page" of the book or menu or what-have-you will remain). Is there something that I missed doing or did incorrectly?

I'd be happy to provide as much further information regarding the problem as needed. Thank you in advance!

What cover mode is the screensaver hack in? One of the options is last, which will "Use the last screen shown as ScreenSavers".

It's set on "Image Cycle"...I've also tried "Random Image Cycle" and "Shuffle Image Cycle" under "Image Cycle," as well as "Cover," with the same result.

If I do a total uninstall of the screensaver hack and then reinstall, it will show my screensaver the very first time I push the sleep button...but then it reverts back to what I described above after that.

@tallest2seat: Then the second image in your pool is most likely borked. Check that it's a sane PNG, 8 bit, 256c, in the right resolution

Do you have the USB cable connected when pushing the sleep button?

1- If you are using your own images, one may be 'broken' causing the SShack to choke...try using only 2-3 that you know have worked in the past.

2- If you are using the Personal Info Banner, try turning it off and see if that helps.

3- The Latest SS Hack version is dated 9/6 (-ish) and can be found in NiLuJe's Snapshots found here...

4- Remember to do a restart whenever you change modes and it is always best to do it with no usb cables attached.

5- Wait for NiLuJe to wander by....
