It's a visual pun on "bonsai kittens", a sick but funny classic internet hoax.

I especially love the reactions to the site. Like some one would actually do that!

I hadn't seen that before. Thanks. While I agree the site is disgusting, the furor around what's an obvious hoax is hilarious. This one is right up there with petitions to ban dihydrogen monoxide.

Thanks, but you can thank Zelda... apparently she received spam of some sort about bonsai kittens, so of course I had to adjust my avatar. Behind every great Marvin stands a good Zelda. Or something like that.

ahem. in fact, i received a spam about bonZai kittens, which i mis-read as bAnzai kittens, a concept which i find infinitely funnier and more attractive, and THAT is the proposition i made for the new avatar. i really don't want to be associated in any way with this kittens-in-glass-jars website, of which i was totally ignorant until yesterday.

this is more or less how i picture banzai kittens in my mind, with perhaps the addition of a headband of the japanese flag. much less creepy than the other thing. |

There's a children's book about a cat called the Ginga Ninja (or somesuch). My friend Angela is affectionately known as the same. Redheads and tempers. Seriously.
