Ok I am still having issues after adding...

was when I got up this morning there was an update to Calibre so now I am using 5.29 x64 version...now that I remember this I am wondering if this is my issue...

Years ago I made a userscript downloader for FFFnet and ran into this exact issue...FFFnet when adding a story "converts" each paragraph into a new <div> element then moves to the next and so on. Since I could not just strip all using some serious jQuery I was able to make it look for all the elements I wanted to removed then convert the all <div>that made the "paragraphs" into proper <p> elements this solved all my formatting issues.

Now...I would not have any idea how to get this FFF program to do that but I thought that seeing the "logic" I used when doing this in javascript might give you an idea or two...if not just forget all this...lol.

FFF does not have such a feature at this time. I might entertain the idea of a one-off ffnet specific optional feature to remove the 'style' attribute from the <div id='storytextp'> tag that contains the text for each chapter.

Does anyone else think this is worthwhile?

You don't need username/password for ffnet--it's one of the sites FFF never logs into.

FFF isn't finding any suitable cache entries: FFF: DEBUG: 2021-10-09 13:20:22,913: basebrowsercache.py(122): Cached 0 entries even though it does spend significant time looking ( do_cprofile time:121.6).

Do you have another [www.fanfiction.net] or [fanfiction.net] section somewhere in personal.ini with different settings? FFF shouldn't even try cloudscraper when use_browser_cache_only:true...

Calibre version shouldn't matter.

I would try, in this order:

Setting browser_cache_age_limit:-1 then download in FFF, doesn't require redoing FFD download. Perhaps FFD's browser doesn't update the cache?
Downloading a different story (a new, short one), both in FFD and FFF. Is this story specific or general?
Manually deleting the contents of the FFD cache directory, downloading again in both FFD and FFF. (Again, I'd use a short story while testing.) Are the entries in the current cache somehow unrecognizable?

Ok everything is working as it should now I had to go to the third option and manually delete the FFD cache before it started working again...not really sure what was causing it to do this but if it happens again it is good to know just deleting the cache folder works fine...easy fix...lol

Not sure if this will work with all readers, but I think I've found a convenient way to deal with this via output_css. I've added the following line to my custom CSS in personal.ini:

.storytextp {padding: 0 0 0 0 !important;}

...The unnecessary padding remains as a style attribute in the HTML but is overwritten/ignored.

OK...Having issues with downloading stories from fictionhunt.net. This site is just an archive of Harry Potter stories posted to FFFnet. When trying to download a story...for example https://fictionhunt.com/stories/759w...lf-of-hogwarts the story does not really start at that link but instead it is more is a "cover page" that just gives all the details about said story. On the right side you will notice two buttons 1) source and 2) archive.

FFF is downloading stories just fine if they are still on FFFnet but if they are not there for what ever reason then it just gives you an error and does not download anything. Is there anything that that could be done to make it download from the archive only totally skipping FFFnet or to make it so that if there is an error then it will try to download from the archive.

The fictionhunt.com adapter looks for the story metadata on the author page. For whatever reason, that story isn't appearing in the author's list of stories.

So it's a site issue.

Theoretically, FFF could be changed to go on with just the metadata on story page. But I'd want to see a few more examples to see it would be worthwhile.

Not sure if it is the best way to download but it seems to work fine doing this from FFFnet. I also tried only downloading the 20 links from only the second page of DZ2s stories (same link from the top of the post but I get the same error as above for all stories. I even tried downloading all the links from hims first 15 pages but it only downloaded the first 20 links then nothing at all.

Sorry for making this an issue but DZ2 has had hundreds of stories over the years and I would really like to "archive" all them that I can before they become "lost forever" but if you feel it is more trouble then it is worth then no worries braha...lol.

The key part here is that author pages are paginated on fictionhunt.com. Most sites don't do that, so I didn't notice it. The adapter does spin through the author pages, but the 'next' link changed. It's fixed now.

Personally, I would consider 60 downloads at a time excessive. If you must, I would do one page of the author story links at a time.

My views on "don't download/update tons at a time" have been discussed several times.

FYI, I use ffnet as an abbreviation for fanfiction.net and FFF for FanFicFare, ie, this plugin. I assume you meant fanfiction.net with FFFnet, but I could be wrong.

I looked in the 2nd post of the first page and there was no zip posted there the new changes...

I was only downloading 60 at a time because I was testing but know it would not work most all the time I download 20-25 (depending on the site) after each episode I watch...so about every 50 minutes.

Sorry to be a bother, but there doesn't seem to be any zip file attached to the test post, and I have failed to make my own zip from the github (it doesn't help that I tried to do it under Windows; have to get my old Virtual Machines out I suppose).

This site is just an archive of Harry Potter stories posted to FFFnet. When trying to download a story...for example https://fictionhunt.com/stories/759w...lf-of-hogwarts the story does not really start at that link but instead it is more is a "cover page" that just gives all the details about said story. On the right side you will notice two buttons 1) source and 2) archive. FFF is downloading stories just fine if they are still on FFFnet but if they are not there for what ever reason then it just gives you an error and does not download anything. Is there anything that that could be done to make it download from the archive only totally skipping FFFnet or to make it so that if there is an error then it will try to download from the archive.

For whatever reason, that story isn't appearing in the author's list of stories. So it's a site issue. Theoretically, FFF could be changed to go on with just the metadata on story page. But I'd want to see a few more examples to see it would be worthwhile.
