If a website has recently changed its format, what is the best method to submit a request to updating FanFicFare plugin to properly detect and pull information from that site once again?

I don't know that there is a 'best' method. Reporting here works, as does opening an issue on github.

Ideally, you would report not just the site, but a story URL that demonstrates the problem (even if you think it affects all stories) and the error message received, or what info you are getting and what you think it should be instead if it's a more subtle problem.

Ok, well, I am fairly certain anything pulled from [redacted] is no longer working after they reformatted their site a month ago or so, but here is one example.

Also note that MR is family-friendly so it's for the best to avoid linking to NSFW stories. You can either PM them to Jim or use github to report those.

I did forget to mention that--I've edited bluerubber's post to remove the NSFW links, but I did see them. Also, I believe it's okay to refer to the NSFW sites by name, but PM'ed story links work better. Unfortunately, I doubt bluerubber, as a new user, is allowed to PM yet.

I've dropped a PM to the dev who added that site, they haven't been active in awhile. Ask me again in a week or so if I haven't said anything about it.

I've read the instructions for the Browser Cache feature and it is generally working for me.

However, it seems to depend on having all pages of the story in cache (the instructions do reflect this: load page 1, then click through all pages, that works).

If they are not all in cache, there is an error loading the story: HTTP Error in FFF 'Page not found or expired in Browser Cache (see FFF setting browser_cache_age_limit)'(428) URL:'https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10556030/1/Royal-Ward'

I already have 190 chapters of Son of Harry Does Different, I wish I could load chapter 191, and then click through the rest up to the current chapter 196. Clicking through all 196 starting from 1 is ... tedious. As is doing it again next week. Just to pick an example not at random.

Is there any workaround for this?

For what its worth, I've tried with check_next_chapter set both true and false. Same result.

I love the tool in general, glad to be using it. I might wish the folks at FFN weren't such whatsits.

Yes, you can--as long as you are updating an epub that already has those chapters. I thought it was pretty clear.

Hmmm. Well, I've tried clicking all the new chapters, that didn't do it. Oh, I see, you meant the first and all new chapters. That would be easier indeed. I was only clicking the new ones. I'll try that next time.

The cache gets the chapter index from chapter 1. I've made the mistake before too.

Honestly I find it a bit strange that it can't get the index from other chapters. Is there a reason for it?

Normalization of 'canonical' story URL. ffnet is unusual in that it only has chapter URLs and there is no separate overall story URL.

Not entirely sure this is just me, but for some reason FanFicFare has stopped reading the email notifications from royalroad. Not sure whether it is the format of royalroad notifications that has changed or something else.

By the way, in regards to getting fanfiction.net stories, the FanFictionDownloader trick works very well, but occasionally a story will get some chapters wrong; if anyone has a good idea how to get it working again on those stories please give me a holler.

If you can provide the HTML body of the email notification that would help narrow it down.

Without seeing the email, I can only speculate. We've seen other sites use special URLs for tracking purposes instead of normal story URLs.

No idea about FFD chapters mismatching. If you can reproduce it and save a copy of the cache directory for me look at (or even, you know, report the story URL) I might discover a clue. As it is,
