TL;DR: the site now does some complicated decryption in obfuscated javascript that I lack the ambition to try and translate into python--especially since they could just change it again. Nobody else came forward to try during the +2 months it was broken before being removed. |

Recover "Modified" column values
I hope I'm not intruding this thread with a question that is only barely related to FFF.
Yesterday I added the columns "update errors", "save metadata" and "checked" to a Calibre library with 30K of books downloaded with FFF. The problem is that after Calibre restart, the column "last_modified" for all the books was changed to yesterday date. So now I can't use that column to sort my books for last updated (or at last last changed). There is some way to recover the original values of "last_modified" column? I do have backups of my library, but I was hoping to use them as a last resort. Also, there is some way to add new columns to a library without changing the last_modified column? Thanks in advance. |

FYI, FFF updates the built-in Date column on download/update and you can set your own custom columns from FFF. |

I remember that FanFicFare writes the last updated date of the book in the first page. This is probably impossible, or too complex to be worth, but:
There is a way to extract said date and populate a custom column? |

Have you looked at the Custom Columns tab in FFF config?

I think I did. One of the custom columns I added was for the "last updated / cheked". The UI of my Calibre is in Spanish, so I don't know the exact name.
When trying to updating a book with FF that column get the current date. But now that column is empty for most of my book, except the two I updated to test it. |

Working as designed. FFF only populates columns when you download or update a story. It doesn't magically fill columns otherwise.
If you set up a saved metadata column in FFF before downloading/updating most of those, you can use the 'Update Calibre metadata from saved column' mode to update your calibre metadata only. Note that FFF will go out to the story server to get metadata if you don't have it in the saved column for a story. |

I think I'm going to restore the backup of the library, and download again the added and updated fics. No idea how add those custom columns without losing the updated time. Because it seems that there isn't a way to backup the last_modified column to another custom column. |

Ever since Calibre updated to v6.x and FFF was updated for qt6 the progress bar windows associated with FFF (e.g. downloading metadata) show up as a featureless solid white instead of actually displaying a progress bar. The FFF job log doesn't list anything unusual. Any idea why this bug is happening? This doesn't break the functionality of FFF, but it is rather glaring against the dark mode I've set for Calibre.

What is your OS?
Does it happen in light mode too, or just dark mode? Did it happen in Cal5 with the FFF qt6 changes or only in Cal6? (The changes to FFF were made several months before Cal6 released.) What are the other plugins whose progbars work fine? |
