I added an edit check recently that validates custom_columns_settings lines.
Your line "category=>tags" never worked (tags isn't a custom column), but now FFF is telling you about it. |

Pointing this out, the error message makes so much sense. And the solution is so simple. Thanks for the help.

Filtering calibre standard tags
I was hoping someone here could help me. I'm very new to working with fanficfares personal.ini and would like to setup the tag collecting. I've got 5 costume columns (listed below in the personal.ini excerpt) working correctly but I would like for these column to be the only place that these tags are listed.
Whenever I import a new fic the tags are placed correctly for the custom columns but are also placed in the standard calibre tag column. I'm sure there is way to suppress certain classes of tags from showing in the standard tag column but after three days searching I'm still having problems determining what syntax or command to use. I thought that the include_in_tags command would exclude anything not listed but currently I'm still getting all tag classes add to the standard calibre tag column. Could someone point me to the right direction to limit what class of tags show up in the standard calibre tag column? Code:
[defaults] include_in_tags:ships,extratags,warnings custom_columns_settings: category=>#fandom status=>#status rating=>#age characters=>#characters genre=>#genre |

Epub format uses <dc:subject>...</dc:subject> tags to define whatever random data, the include_subject_tags setting controls what gets put in those tags. When epubs are imported in Calibre, <dc:subject> tags end up in Calibre's Tags field. So when I made the plugin version, it made sense to just use include_subject_tags--it basically already worked that way. |

Ahh. That makes sense.
I do have one last problem that I have been trying to parse and I suspect that what I am trying to do is not possible. Fimfiction.net has a genre category called Human for fics that are told from a human or ex-human POV. I would like to change this specific tags class from genre to characters. I have been searching for a command to do this but haven't yet found one. Most of the commands that I have found involve renaming or determining what tags to include from the website. Nothing that I have found can actually change class types. So just to save some sanity I'll ask. Is there any way for the user to change tag class types or is this beyond the scope of the plug-in design? |

FFF has a round-about way of doing that using the replace_metadata split feature:
Code:
[www.fimfiction.net] add_to_replace_metadata: characters=>^(.*)$=>\1\,Human&&genre==Human See wiki page. Note that this will only work when there is already something in characters. |

![]() ![]() ![]() I would have never found that solution. I thought it would involve some kind of conditional but my amateur coding skills couldn't see this use case from the split metadata feature. Thanks for all the help and your work on this project. ![]() |

I tried this:
Code:
[https://archiveofourown.org/works/39298212] strip_chapter_numbers: true EDIT: The chapters are still separate files, just the toc.ncx (and auto-genned ToC page) only shows the first chapter. Last edited by ownedbycats; 05-30-2022 at 04:58 PM. |

I would suspect that you are using a chapter_title_strip_pattern setting that includes "Chapter *[0-9]+" of some form. It's not in the default, but there is an example in defaults.ini:
Code:
## (Two versions of chapter_title_strip_pattern are shown below. You ## should only have one uncommented.) ## This version will remove the leading number from: ## "1." => "" ## "1. The Beginning" => "The Beginning" ## "1: Start" => "Start" ## "2, Chapter the second" => "Chapter the second" ## etc ## Leaves unchanged "1.1" or "1" ## Note that your ToC entry(ies) may be empty if the ## chapter_title_strip_pattern removes everything and you don't have ## add_chapter_numbers:true. chapter_title_strip_pattern:^[0-9]+[\.: -]+(?=[^0-9]|$) ## This version remove leading numbers and 'Chapter 1': ## "Chapter 1" => "" ## "1. Chapter 1" => "" ## "1. Chapter 1, Bob's First Clue" => "Bob's First Clue" ## "Chapter 2 - Pirates Place" => "Pirates Place" ## etc ## Note that your ToC entry(ies) may be empty if the ## chapter_title_strip_pattern removes everything and you don't have ## add_chapter_numbers:true. #chapter_title_strip_pattern:^([0-9]+[\.: -]+)?(Chapter *[0-9]+[\.:, -]*)? |

The first pattern there worked when I pasted it under the section. Thank you.

Hello! Is it possible to configure the plugin, just for myself, to download from a fanfiction site that's not included in the list?

"Configure?" No, not really.
But it is an open source project, so the code is available from the FanFicFare project home or even just in the plugin zip file. Many people have coded support for new sites and contributed back to the project. What site are you talking about? |
