Has something happened to the Fanfiction downloader because I can’t get it to work i’ve also deleted it and reinstalled it and it comes up with the caption but then it just doesn’t load the page.

And how do you do it through the Google Chrome browser again cause I’ve got it set up so uses the catch from my browser but it don’t work

There are a further 24 'supported' sites that are broken for a number of reasons:

• Site there, but software(usually eFiction) broken(10)
• Site answers, but serves nothing--all responses error or empty(5)
• DNS there, but no site/parked DNS/account suspended(5)
• Site changed completely/enough to require complete reimplementation of adapter--but nobody's noticed/cared enough to ask about it(4)

Per the link below, StoriesOnline apparently made significant under the hood login changes this morning, unable to login via FFF currently.

Going to a story link, the link above, or any URL on storiesonline.net, I get redirected to this clean_up.php url, which Firefox then reports as "The page isn’t redirecting properly". Rather limits my ability to troubleshoot.

MS Edge doesn't seem to have the same issue, so it's likely it's a conflict with one of my settings.

storiesonline.net(/finestories.com) is such a pain to support; I'd be happier just removing it from FFF. But I'll try to look at it.

While I do use FFF to download from storiesonline, I'd completely understand and wouldn't object if you dropped active support of it. It seems to come up quite often in the change logs.

Either way, I appreciate FFF and all the work that goes into maintaining it.

Question: In defaults.ini, is there a reason that everything in the story-specific section [https://archiveofourown.org/works/xxxx] is magenta? I find it makes it a bit more difficult to read.

I don't recall any particular reason for magenta.

Dark mode/theme gets magenta instead of the dark magenta regular mode gets because somebody asked for lighter dark mode colors.. I used the same colors as before, just lighter versions.

Since there was already code right there showing how to lighten an existing color, I applied it to storyUrls sections in dark mode.

I was referring to the entire section being magneta, while the rest of it has different colours depending on the context. Sorry if I was unclear.

As I recall, it was difficult (or impossible?) because the story URL section names weren't known ahead of time?

Or I may have left it as an 'at your own risk' indicator because story URL section names aren't checked and didn't want possibly bad story URLs to appear to be marked 'correct' by the highlighting?

That makes sense, though is there a reason something like '^https://archiveofourown.org/works/(\d+)$' wouldn't work? I suppose coming up with regexes for every site would be a hassle though, especially if they change URL formats.

I'm sorry, I understand how annoying it is to try and keep up with site changes... but fastnovel.net now redirects to fastnovels.net

and while they seem to look similar, my attempt to just copy the fastnovel adapter and the missing s everywhere results in:

invalid literal for int() with base 10: ''

when trying to download an url from there.

I tried to figure out what's going on, and I believe that while fastnovel.net had all chapter links directly on the story page, fastnovels.net only lists the 20 last chapters and has a "Show all chapters" link.

on https://fastnovels.net/cultivation-chat-group9-29/

that ends up doing a POST to https://fastnovels.net/ with

film_id: 29
list_chapter: 1

as parameters, which returns an html fragment listing all chapters.

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar enough with python in general and the fanficfare codebase and the libraries it uses in particular to rewrite extractChapterUrlsAndMetadata myself to account for that.

Question: How (if possible) would I get custom_columns_settings to set an #omnibus boolean to 'yes' for anthologies and 'no' for all other fics?

Does anyone have any best practices for AO3? I am interesting in downloading some of my favorites but the out of control tagging on AO3 is insane.

What I would like to do is have tags only for fandom, ie. Harry Potter, Marvel Cinematic Universe, etc., and characters, maybe only the first 4 listed? I don't need tags for characters that show up for 2 lines and sadly, some authors do tag them! If there is a main relationship tagged I suppose I would like that too. But I don't want 50 or 75 or 100 other random tags that the author dreamed up that are useless.

From what I recall, JimmXinu's official advice for AO3 metadata is "just give up, it's a disaster." But if I remember right, removing freeformtags from this would leave you with just the fandom:

## ao3categories in the standard metadata field genre.  By making it

EDIT: Also, I should mention that AO3 semi-recently implemented a tag limit (thanks to that one author who thought it was funny to use literally thousands of tags -- though now I'm curious how FFF would've handled that). It's honestly a bit of a relief.
