Fanficfare v3.19.0, in Calibre Version 4.14.0, Windows 10 - 64-bit version, the titles of books sorts as follows:
A New Path => A New Path The Call of the Ice => The Call of the Ice Before I updated from the previous version (of both FFF and Calibre), they sorted as follows: A New Path => New Path, A The Call of the Ice => Call of the Ice, The Also, when I have fanfiction that I need to check for updates, and it has an article as the first word of the title, but in my library it has been listed correctly, the act of getting new or updated chapters "un-fixes" the sort title, so literally whatever the first word/character/etc is, that is how it sorts in the library - unless I manually fix it - and it only stays fixed until I check again for updates or new chapters. Is this a Calibre thing or a FanFicFare plug-in thing? ![]() Thanks for any assistance you can provide! |

Question Book Titles Start With "A" and "The"
Look at " Preferences / Advanced / Tweaks "
There is a tweak Set the list of words considered to be "articles" for sort strings (ID: per_language_title_sort_articles) I think that is the setting you´re looking for. |

In FFF's Config, under the Standard Columns tab there are checkbox settings to "Force Title into Title Sort" (and same for Author). Those settings are specifically for doing what you say you're seeing.
Did you change those settings? They are both off by default. |

Error: The ebook has been updated, but the metadata has not.
Hello,
I get the following error message if I try to update metadata for fanfiktion.de Detailed error message in Spoiler:
But it´s only If it try to update an existing story. If I download a new story there is no error. With "Exception: Trying to set entry (numWords) value(1.032) to column (#word_count) failed (invalid literal for int() with base 10: '1.032')" it seems as if the existing wordcount can´t be updated. Could there have been a change in the number format? ![]() |

2020-05-09 - Remove '.' from numWords in adapter_fanfiktionde Quote:
I suspect it could be made to work if you run Calibre in a locale that uses '.' for grouping separator, or change some Calibre tweak values. Using replace_metadata to remove the '.' is also a possibility. However, I think it's best to just address it directly in adapter_fanfiktionde. |

Yes, the story I downloaded without error was only 471 words.
And I too think it best to correct it directly in the adapter. So it is corrected immediately and does not have to be set manually by the user. I downloaded the new test version, installed it and restarted calibre. But the error is not fixed for me. It´s still the same error message? |

Using Anthologies & EpubMerge with Ao3 series. I have epubmerge set to take the series name from the first book in the series. When I use 'Make Anthology Epub from Web Page' with an Ao3 series however, it's not filling in the Series column with any information. Is there a setting I possibly don't have selected that would fill that out?
Thanks. |

Hi! I discovered Calibre & Fanficfare only yesterday and I'm amazed!
I managed everything pretty well except one thing: I can't get the "Chapters/Total Chapters" for ArchiveOfOurOwn to work. I tried every type of column there is and chose "Chapters" for each one. There wasn't anything other chapter-related to choose from: No "chapterstotal", "chapterslashtotal" or similar. |

To set those to a custom column, you instead have to use the personal.ini setting custom_columns_settings. Here's what defaults.ini has to say about it: Spoiler:
You should be able to find some examples in previous discussion in this thread. Also, chapterslashtotal can't be set in a number type custom column, it needs a string. |

Thank you for answering! Unfortunately, I already tried to change the personal.ini, but I didn't know what to exactly do.
I had searched through the thread before and found several discussions, this one for example: Quote:
Only that it didn't help. I don't have any experience with IT-Languages, so I hoped to find a screenshot or detailed text that I could copy and adjust to put into my file. Even now with your answer, I am still confused: Where in the .ini to put the custom_columns_settings, which lines to edit into the string, how much space to leave. Any time I tried to do it myself, it didn't work: Either no changes or a metadata error. |
