If you search the thread for 'wayback', you'll see that's been discussed before. Short version: Old removed stories were incomplete in the samples checked and also in old since-changed site layout that FFF no longer supports.

http://www.kaleidopy.com/KFTLC/kftlcfics/ is shutting down at the end of the month. I believe it is eFiction based. Would it be simple to add long enough for us to save the contents? I completely understand if it's too much effort for too little return, especially since it's scheduled to shut down in about a week and a half, but I figured it was worth a try.

Since it appears to work with a completely standard base_efiction implementation, I don't mind giving you a temporary version for that.

It's attached here instead of in the usual place because I don't think it will be of universal interest.

results in
Story does not exist: (The url 'http:<same url, in pm> is not on site 'www.utopiastories.com')

Near as I can tell, that's because the two stories you PM'ed me don't exist on the site anymore.

When I click them, I get sent to the site's home page instead.

Hi, I'm new to all this, and not very savvy, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I've read the wiki/faq but there's a couple things I want to ask that I didn't see answers to in there.

1. Is there a basic user set up guide somewhere? I've tried searching this thread as well.

2. Is it possible to use FFF to download my entire bookmarks + history off AO3, and if so, how do I do that/is there a guide/instructions somewhere? I *think* I've managed the personal dot ini set up by putting my ao3 info under overrides (and the adult thing) but that is as far as I can figure out I'm afraid.

3. I have a gmail that I use primarily (though not solely) for story updates from AO3, I would love to use this feature, but I haven't got a half a clue what an IMAP server is. The FAQ mentions gmail specifically, but I'm afraid of breaking something. Do I just put google dot com as the IMAP server and then my log in details for that account? Will it be a problem that I've got some order confirmations in that inbox?

1. No, there isn't a guide as such. If somebody wants to write one, I'll link to it or include it in the GitHub, but my experience is that I'm terrible at writing instructions for software I've written. One resource I point people to frequently is the defaults.ini file that contains tons of comments on different options.
2. You can use the 'Get Story URLs from Web Page' feature with your AO3 bookmarks link. I don't know of any way to get a reading history from AO3.
   
   FYI, refer to the FAQ about 'don't update your whole library' for why it's a bad idea to do large numbers of downloads all at once. I don't recommend more than 20-30 at a time and space those batches out.
   
   I will also recommend creating a long-text custom column for Saved FFF Metadata (see bottom of FFF's Custom Columns tab) before downloading lots of stuff as it will save you more downloads when you inevitably want to change your columns, etc.
3. To use the FFF update from email feature with Gmail, you have to turn on an option in Gmail that is called 'Allow less secure access' (or words to that effect). If you don't understand it well enough to evaluate if the loosened security is worth the trade off, I don't recommend using it.

There you changes inject_chapter for h4 it messed up my config can you change it to anything else site uses h1 to h6 by default.

I've looked at the custom columns tab and searched the default ini for the phrase 'custom columns' ut I can't quite figure out how to actually create the column you are suggesting.

In regards to wayback machine links what I think at least might make sense is supporting the fanfiction.net scrape from 2012. It's pretty much 100% complete, and the formatting will be consistent internally because it was doen over a short amount of time.

Here's some examples of sfw stories in it

They're all little one shots simply because that's all I really read back when I was like 11 and originally fond the stories.
