De La Mare stories located SO FAR-A:B:O,Out of the Depth,Seaton's Aunt and "The return" .
oh and finished "The Necromancer or Tale of the Black Forest-founded on Facts" (1794),from Karl Friedrich Kahlert (under the pseudonym of Lawrence Flamenberg),translated by "Peter Teuthold" (in reality Peter Will).90 pages in one day. GOOD,but I was SO disapointed, when all Necromancy was ridiculused as "impossible cheats" (the belief in which "will ruin the life of a happy heart" and being so ridiculised on ca. 30 pages alone) and how everything was but people maked-up as spirits, and hidden bandits imitating thunder-which I find the LEAST believable. |

It is the way that English is written. Not having spaces after punctuation makes it harder to read.

Think of it as a challenge of your reading abilities.

The sequence was also relevant with my rating smileys, not just the collection.

I'm trying to read "Crystal Rain," one of the Tor freebies. But it is pretty awful and probably I will not finish it. The true horror is that most of these Tor books seem to be Part 1 of new series, and I'm afraid I'll trudge through to the end, only to find that it is to be continued.
Unsolicited Review: Unless you are fanatically interested in Caribbean and pre-Columbian cultures, just skip this one. |

Mistborn is next on my list, as soon as I finish Lord of the Isles. I must say, I'm enjoying it more than I usually enjoy wizardly fantasy. I'm still in the first half of the book, but it's a page turner for me. It is short on descriptions, but rich in characters and action.

Mistborn does have some good action scenes, but it's mostly big on character. I do like it for the way it doesn't go overboard on character or action. Once book three is out and it's available at my local library, then I'll read book two and three.

Currently re-reading Tales of Earthsea, just finished The Other Wind (both by Ursula Le Guin, of course). Le Guin is not to everyone's taste, but I particularly like these two books, because she revisits the whole Earthsea mythos and reinterprets it. The first books, while they had an original setting, were a bit stereotypical in some of their assumptions (e.g. all wizards are men). In these two books she revisits those assumptions, in ways that make them make sense for the original trilogy, but deepen and broaden the view of Earthsea as a real-feeling place.
