I'm glad to say that everyone at the book group liked the biography of Terry Pratchett which was my choice for the book group this year. Even though none of them have read any of his books!

I'm finishign Alright, Alright, Alright: The Oral History of Richard Linklater's Dazed and Confused. Some interesting anecdotes, it's just that it becomes repetitive, as nearly all of it is presented through interview answers of people involved in it. Reports of drug use are honestly off-putting, even though the author tries to brush it aside.

Just finishing "The Mysterious Case of Rudolf Diesel: Genius, Power, and Deception on the Eve of World War I" by Douglas Brunt. Quite entertaining and enlightening so far.

Hi, I like a lot sci-fi, had finished from Robert Kurvitz "Sacred and Terrible Air", and it's one of the most beatiful books I'd ever read.

1/3 through Northanger Abbey to finish Austen's big six and loving it. The rant about the contempt in which novels are held was hilarious.

Reading Among the Fallen by N.S. Dolkart (book 2 of the Godserfs series) - The first book follows the story of five refugees fleeing the island of Tarphae which has been struck by a deadly plague. Among the fallen continues the story but now our heroes have parted ways (temporarily I hope!) to pursue their own quests, be that leading an army of dragon touched, displacing the lands old religion with one that has up to now been forced underground or even searching for the secrets of academic wizardry - just the usual day in the life of a fantasy adventurer One of my favourite characters in the series up to now is Bandu, a girl that was abandoned in the wild, her only friend before meeting the other characters is a wolf who she thinks is a dog - four foot, this leads to an amusing first encounter for our heroes on board a boat after Bandu smuggles four foot aboard but he escapes. After causing chaos and nearly getting stabbed Bandu defends four foot and berates the others - '' 'wicked man' the ragged girl cursed ... 'wicked man' " ........." 'Four-foot is good' the girl shouted .... 'four-foot only bites wicked people .... I talk to him only if you throw sharp things away' " (Bandu is talking about swords but does not know what they are called)* - the way Dolkart writes Bandu's speech makes her an amusing character to read about (but she also has a lot of depth) - but all of the characters in the book are well written and thought out, they all bring a lot to the story and you find yourself rooting for them all. If you like fantasy books with a lot of adventure/ adventuring in I can certainly recommend Silent Hall (book 1) and Among the Fallen (book 2) I haven't read A breach in the Heavens (book 3) - but I certainly will! *This is actually from the first book Silent Hall |

4/5 for Northanger Abbey literally LOL in many places, thus securing it 5th place of the 6 Austens I've read. Now into Flying Blind by Alice Campbell. I've enjoyed most of hers, looking forward to this one.

Next I read The Beast of Littleton Woods by T E Kinsey, the 12th and latest in his Lady Hardcastle series. A fun read. Next up: Agatha Christie by Lucy Worsley. A biography. Good so far. | |
