It is likely this is a bug in the Aldiko handling of the link to the next page, but I have no Android device so cannot check that. I had a similar bug for the QuickReader app on my iPad, and when I reported it the QR author quickly found the bug in his code where he had made an invalid assumption about OPDS syntax. There has certainly been no recent change that I know about that would affect Aldiko, so whatever issue is causing this has probably been there for some time. Yours is the first report of such a problem so it will not even have been looked at up to now.

Having said that if anyone can point out what needs changing to allow the link to the net page to work for Aldiko then I expect that the change could easily be incorporated.

I'm looking at the rungui.cmd, and I'm not quite seeing an error.

The only thing close was:

java\jre6\javaw.exe was unexpected at this time

It's also looking like it's trying to set BOTH C:\program files and C:\program files (x86) as the path, but I'm not totally sure

That screenshot shows me what I need to correct the issue. It also shows me the route that is being taken through the batch file so that I can reproduce and check the fix.

I will upload a fixed beta4 in a few hours time after I have checked the change that needs making.

In the meantime if java is on your search path you can launch using the command
Code:
javaw -cp OpdsOutput-2.4-SNAPSHOT.jar Gui

My catalog no longer has the descriptions of the books (comments field in Calibre). Is there a setting I'm missing to add that to the catalog?

It shows up in the HTML version, but when I browse the catalog with Stanza, all I have is the title and cover.

You should certainly see the details in Stanza as long as you had Stanza compatibility mode set. In fact, since the HTML catalog is generated from the information in the XML based version of the catalog, the data must already be there.

Is it possible you did not go down the extra level to the book details page?

Oops, I had OPDS compatibility set, not Stanza. I'm regenerating now.

Thanks!

For those of you using the HTML catalogs we would welcome feedback on the new 'mobile' look for low resolution screens (e.g. phones). At the moment the new look is automatic when a low resolution screen is detected, so feedback on whether you would like more control over when the mobile look is invoked is welcomed.
Excellent news. I am waiting for Dropbox to update the 5500 files generated so that I can browse them on iPad and try out the new Mobile theme. Definitely a huge plus for me.

I am afraid that you will not see the new theme on an iPad - it is above the resolution needed to trigger the mobile scheme being selected. I have been discussing with Farid (who developed this theme) ways of making this theme user selectable whatever the screen resolution. He developed and tested it for an iPhone so if you have access to that it will definitely show the 'mobile' look.

On a slightly different issue - have you tried looking at the log to see how many files this release did NOT copy back to Dropbox because they were unchanged from the previous run as the log now contains statistics on this? I am interested in getting feedback on how effective this feature actually is for most users. This is assuming you had the "Minimize Number of Changed Files" option set under the Catalog generation options" tab.

The Dropbox refresh is hugely smaller! A major tweak forward.

Great to hear that those changes seem to do the job.

I guess it is about time we cleared all known (and new bugs) in the current beta release and got around to finalising it rather than introducing new features.

PLEASE! That way I'd get a properly packaged version for use on my Macs.
(Not that I'm greedy or self-centered, or anything... )

I understand your concern, Xenophon. In the meantime, if you use the "open package" Finder menu command on the Calibre2Opds application, and then replace all the files in the Contents/Resources/Java folder with the files in the beta-4 ZIP archive, it should work

It's not that tricky to build & run from source! :-)

(Actually, as it's a Java app, it's quite straightforward, although if you've not done any Java development on the Mac before, there'd be a bit of downloading & command-line work involved to get started. I'm afraid that I wasn't able to help much with the 'run from source' directions on the wiki as I'd already got the infrastructure in place on mine, so didn't actually use them!)
