Yes. It requires 3.x and seems more stable under Mac with 3.5.

Hi Beowulf,

with the latest versions of both, calibre (beta) and BookIt, I'm still getting zero filesize results with the spiegel page.

Here's what the log says:

Last week and this are completely booked for me, but I was going to do some work this weekend and next week on the plugin.

Have everyone moved over the calibre 0.6? Anybody object if I require it? This will make new features much easier.

Once I do that, I'm planning on playing around with the editor and making it more reliable and see if I can address some of the issues regarding parentless images and such.

Hi,

First off, thanks for this great tool

Now onto my problem, I just tried running this on FF 3.0.13 (ubuntu jaunty jackalope) with calibre 0.6.7 and got the following error:

Code:
Error: Bookit: [Exception... "'[JavaScript Error: "statement.params is undefined"
{file: "file:///home/MYHOME/.mozilla/firefox/2l4vu2lo.default/extensions/%7B950a782d-e82f-45e2-9da7-44898356813d%7D/components/nsIDatabaseManager.js" line: 42}]'
 when calling method: [nsIDatabaseManager::newJob]"  nsresult: "0x80570021 (NS_ERROR_XPC_JAVASCRIPT_ERROR_WITH_DETAILS)"
 location: "JS frame :: file:///home/MYHOME/.mozilla/firefox/2l4vu2lo.default/extensions/%7B950a782d-e82f-45e2-9da7-44898356813d%7D/modules/BookitConversion.js ::
 anonymous :: line 169" data: yes]
Seems it's having problems creating the job - in fact the job list remains empty.

Let me know if you need any other info or want me to test stuff.

Thanks

Ver

Thanks, I'll have to setup a VM to test this, may take a few days. Looks to be a failure to insert a row into the sqlite database.

I haven't done much back testing again Firefox 3.0, it may be an issue there.

Hi,

Me again I went ahead and installed Firefox 3.5.2 and found a bug when bookit tries to create temp folders.

This is the code as is (file is modules/BookitConversion.js):
Code:
    getWorkingDir: function() {

        var workingDir = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/file/directory_service;1"]
                        .getService(Components.interfaces.nsIProperties)
                        .get("TmpD", Components.interfaces.nsIFile);
        workingDir.append("bookit-work");
        workingDir.createUnique(Components.interfaces.nsIFile.DIRECTORY_TYPE, 0666);
        return workingDir;
    },
the call to createUnique has the wrong permissions for a folder. To get it to work I had to set the permissions to 0776. If I leave the permissions as is, the code creates the folder but then can't open it as the execute bit isn't set. Trying to open the folder via a terminal gives me a 'Permission denied' error. Once I changed the permissions then Bookit successfully ran web2disk and loaded the file into calibre.

This is on Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope 9.0.4.

BTW, I still have firefox 3.0.13 installed and found that the TmpD variable isn't set so the following always fails:

Code:
 .get("TmpD", Components.interfaces.nsIFile);
HTH

Great, thanks. I've had zero free time to look at this week, but I'll make your change, review the directory code, and try to get a new release out this weekend.

Hi beowulf573,

I have been using this plug-in to convert web to .mobi format (Link). It's working good so far, but it take a long time, about 10 mins. Some things wrong with it?

I remember mobi taking a long time to convert, not much I can do about that.

I'm going to try to find time this afternoon to address the Linux issues, after that I'll test your site out.

I still want to upgrade the back end for 0.6, but I've had zero free time. My regular work load has gone through the roof.

Hi! Great plugin but I cannot seem to create ePub ebooks. Using the latest version from your website and the latest calibre.

Trying to convert this page: and getting this eror:

Quote:
Error: Bookit: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIFile.remove]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Admin/Application%20Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/vn1nb48o.default/extensions/%7B950a782d-e82f-45e2-9da7-44898356813d%7D/modules/BookitConversion.js :: anonymous :: line 268" data: no]
Can anyone help?
