Ok, a quick bug fix update, 0.4.0. It's in the update feed so you should get it automatically.

Wanna try something new?
Here's an idea I've been playing with. If you're feeling lucky, install it and tell me what you think. Here's the install link.
Try this out:
This leverages the built-in midas editor from Firefox, you can select elements, resize and delete, and change formatting or add new elements. It's a bit primitive right now but I think it has potential. I'll be traveling this weekend but will play with it more next week. I'm not putting this in the update feed so you won't be forced to install it. Let me know what you think. |

I am currently on holyday from work - where I have installed bookit (on my work PC, it doesnt work at home).
If I understood correctly what you said, YOU are ruining my vacations and I fear I'll have to run to work to test it, since it's right what I dreamed you would implement. My wife will hate you. alessandro |

Bwahahaha! My wife isn't happy with me sitting behind my laptop either. I don't think she knew what she was getting into.
This just a first pass. I'll clean it up with toolbar buttons and more formatting options during next week. |

I'm using your latest version now, and I'm really impressed!
Thank you so much, it was exactly what I needed - and I'm sure that everybody will find it useful: nowadays, to find a clean website, not cluttered with flash and other animations is almost impossible. The possibility to cleanly select your text snippets is a real godsend. <IF> you have time to do it (you already did sooo much!) I think a great refinement would be the possibility to have at the beginning of the book that is being created a TOC with a link for every snippet inserted. This could be a) automatically done at each copy/paste, or b) done by hand, but in that case you should add the possibility to add an anchor, from the window menu. In every case, thanks thanks thanks! alessandro |

I don't think I can generate the entries for a TOC automatically, I don't have enough info to know where to put the links. But once I rough out the editing commands you should be able to drop in h1 headings and use that to generate TOC entries pretty easily.
Turns out FF 3.0 broke the command interface for the rich editor, I just found a workaround. So I'll add the basic commands and try to get a release out this weekend and then add more as time permits. I tried using TinyMCE as the embedded editor as it sits on top of the same element, but it doesn't appear to work well inside of a plugin. |

I'm not sure on the steps required, however: to have a named link to an anchor inside the document, I need to put <a name="anchorname"> somewhere, right? So I guess you'll have to add the <a> tag command... alessandro |

I think you can just use --chapter-regex and --add-chapters-to-toc to create TOC entries. As for the other see my next post.

0.4.2 is out.
I've got the editor working, go to town. It includes basic formatting commands a the ability to switch between the visual editor and raw html. I'll add more formatting options over the new couple days. I'm not trying to implement a full featured html editor, just enough to be useful. I've also removed the Hide Element menu item. It was clunky and caused issues under FF 3.0 sometimes. Instead drop html into the editor and clean it up there. |

Mac OS 10.5.4
FF 3.0.1 BookIt 0.4.2 BookIt doesn't automatically use the page name of the current page as file name anymore. This ain't new, happened a few updates back. And question: where is the html editor and how do I use it? Can I use it without advanced html skills? Thx! jo. |

OK, OK. But to my own defense: I only use the FF toolbar button, statusbar deactivated. |

I just tested with an ascii title and it worked, are you trying a page with a unicode title? There's a problem passing a unicode output filename to web2lrf or html2lrf so I replace any non-ascii title. I don't like it but it appears to be a python issue on certain os versions and python versions. I'm going to continue to look at it but right now I don't have a good solution.
There's an edit field on the advanced tab that will let you override the filename. I'm glad you found the editor menu item, I'll add a new menu item to the Tools menu. I need to sit down and make the gui more consistent. For 0.5.0 I'll do a complete overhaul. |

How are you launching web2lrf on windows? Using a windows API call?
