In the categories there is a "Macros" option. Then select the correct macro. Make sure your "Save in:" drop down box points to the "BookCreator.dot" template. |

Thanks for the link =)
I loaded it up and the menu item works fine now. However I did run into a bug when I used the main wrdwrapfix button, it errored out. Here is a picture of the error i recieved, just thought since it was a development version you might want it: Error Last edited by askyn; 05-14-2010 at 04:52 PM. |

Has there been any testing / are there any issues with BookCreator Tool v3.0 and the latest Calibre (v. 0.7.2 as of a few days ago)?
I seem not to be able to create files. :-( (I wish Calibre had a "go back" feature where we could go back (e.g., from 0.7.x to 0.6.x) without screwing up our DBs, etc.) There seem to be Calibre 0.7.x issues with the Sony driver as well. :-( Best, Pyatrus |

Oops. BookCreator Tool v3.0 DOES work with Calibre v0.7.2 but the process seems much slower to me (and at 100 percent CPU usage for a 2 GHz single-core Pentium w/ 2 GB RAM, and nothing else running/open). It took close to one hour for a 9 MB MS Word source file; it took less than five minutes for a 350 KB MS Word file. output = epub

@ Pyatrus Okay glad it's working for you.
As to the speed of calibre, yes I've noticed it on occasions is quite slow depending on the book. I only tried calibre 7 and Word 2007 last night, for the first time, with a small book and I did not notice a lag. I'll have to keep an eye on a larger book to see the difference in speeds. =X= |

Great tool, big thanks for it!
I notice that on 64-bit office 2010 macros give an error: "Compile error: The code in this project must be updated for use on 64-bit system [...]" It's the first time i see MSVB makes difference between 32 and 64 bit... surprise, surprise. |

Minor issue
I prefer most ebooks in ragged right (unjustified) format. When I selected the disable justification checkbox in the Create Ebook/Page Layout tab, nothing was created. Looking at the debug.txt output, I noticed that a --dont-justify was being added to the ebook-convert command line. According to ebook-convert's help output, that option does not exist. Instead there is a --change-justification=option command. Using either original or left as the option worked to create a non-justified ebook. My preference was left as that overrides justification present in the original text as well as that generated prior the conversion process.
Hmmm... since that's my major nit, have to say that otherwise BookCreator is a great time saving tool. ![]() |

As you figured out by now BC relies heavily on calibre to create it's ebooks. When I wrote the BC version 3.0 calibre .6 used the '--don't-justify' tag. It looks like calibre has changed the syntax. I'll have to include that bug fix in the next release. BTW What version of calibre are you using? =X= |

Although I am sure my config isn't typical (I'm using Calibre 6.46 because that's the most recent version of Calibre where the "catalog" function works -- and I don't have the time to troubleshoot Calibre).
I'm using Windows XP SP3, Office 2010 Pro, Calibre 6.46, and BookCreator 3.0. I've only tried out Word 2010 with a small file but everything seems to be working fine. I really like BookCreator & since I have very strong MS Word skills it's easy to use it to make ebooks. . . . Best, -- Pyatrus |

Hi ProfPaul,
It's just a word template, called BookCreator.dot. Simply download the zip file, located on the first post.(link). Unzip the file and place the 'BookCreator.dot' template anywhere, I've placed mine in the MS Word template directory. Then double click on the BookCreator.dot file. This will launch a new BookCreator Document withing MS Word. It's that easy. Here is a link to directly download the Tool (BookCreator_v3.zip) If you want to create books from within the BookCreator UI you will need calibre. =X= Last edited by =X=; 10-26-2010 at 06:46 PM.
