Yes
You do this by opening up the book template and not a new document.

To open the template you need to navigate to the directory wher the Bookcreator.dot file is located. The right click on the file. You should see a list of options on how to open the file. Select the "Open" menu option.

Configure the page layout as you like save the document and CLOSE it out-- any changes made in the template file will apply to all documents you open with the template so make sure you save and close.

Now go and open a new document and your new settings should show up.

Any way to link footnotes using this template? I have a lot of footnotes in the books I'm working on. I'm not sure if I want to put all the effort into footnoting, just curious if it's possible.

Hi primetime,
At the moment there is no special way in BookCreator to add footnotes. It one point, in version 2.0, I implemented a Footnote inserter and realized it was just as difficult to add as using Microsoft current footnote system. I ended up stripping it out since it did not make the process easier.

Gotcha....thanks for the quick response. I'm not sure the footnotes are worth it since it seems like it'll be pretty laborious. Thanks.

Im obviously doing something wrong, because I can no longer get this version or any others now, working. It seems to do every thing except create the LRF File!

Okay I'm shooting in the dark here, without more info, it's hard for me to guess what is the root cause.

Calibre .6 changed the executable name and later on changed the directory path, so users could have both calbire .6 and earlier on the same machine. If you have the latest BC then it is targeted to work with the latest calibre.

Providing DEBUG status
Quote:
The best combination for BC is to use Word 2003, the latest calibre and the latest BC.

Info that helps diagonse problems is

What version of BookCreator (BC)?
What version of calibre?
What Version of Word?

And what error are you getting.

Another bit of info is to run the tool with the debug option set to on. This saves the the command line that is sent to calibre to a debug.txt file in the same location as the word document.

Running that command in the command line will help identify the error BC is having.

Sorry it was me being stupid - I forgot that the default Calibre Directory had been changed, and did not change book creator to match. It is all working fine now. Thanks for a great utility.

im having a problem with using this with word 2010.

I can get it to load and most of the functions seem ok, but, the wordwrapfix option has no download options.

It seems to have the little down arrow to have a drop down open up, but its greyed out and you cannt select any options.

im currently using the BookCreator_NOIMP.dot v3.0

any ideas ?

Hi Askyn,
Is "download options" a new 2010 concept? Do you mean it is disabled?

I've found MS Word exhibit weird behavior when it has problems loading macros. At one point I also had my own "WrdWrap Fix" disabled. The problem had nothing to do with word wrap but completely new code.

Another way to run the macro
Try running the macro from word from the Marco manager. The "WrdWrapFix" button calls the "eBookWordWrapFix_FixPar" macro. You can run virtually all the BC macros from the Manager. In MS Word 2003 you get to the manager from hitting "Tools| Macros | Macro ..." or by hitting the "Alt+F8" combo.

Select the "eBookWordWrapFix_FixPar" macro and see if it works.

Also you can try my latest dev version.
Try the model I am currently using see if it fixes your problem. This version does use the ePublisher so you will need to have it installed. (I see you have an eB1150 so you might have ePublisher installed already)
