thanks for great tool. I tried to convert one utf-8 html file to lrf and embed an unicode font (times new roman). The output file display characters great but it took a lots of time to open the file in reader and much slower to turn the page, is there anything i can do to improve this?

are there any plans to write something that will convert fb2 into html, or epub that would be compliant with these tools?

OPF file in zips
Hello:
When using Zip format to supply a group of files, I can include an OPF file for the document layout (spine). Does LibPrs500 also collect the metadata from this opf file (book title, author, etc.) ? I have tested with a file but the data is not collected, the book is simply listed as 'Unknown', Is this a bad OPF file? (If I load this file into Mobipocket creator, the metadata is collected fine) If LibPrs500 does not collect this data, are there any plans to introduce this functionality in the future? |

Yeah it does. Use clit on a .lit file to understand the format of OPF.

MetaData in OPF files
Kovid:
I have test a few differnet OPF files, all of these have been extracted straight from CLIT, all files put into a Zip and imported straight into LibPrs500. None of them present the correct metadata for Author and book title for the book in LibPrs500 as mentioned previously in this thread. I have tested on two seperate computers. But the same opf files present the data fine when used with Mobipocket Creator. LibPrs500, is correctly adding the cover image to the lrf book when converting, so it is finding the Guide entry for the cover image; but seems to be ignoring the title and author areas of the opf file. I can send you a copy of one of the files if you wish for testing purposes. |

Sample file attached
Kovid:
Find attached a copy of one of the OPF files I have tested. This was extraced directly from a book using CLit. Please note I have only sent the OPF file due to copyright reasons, if you need the full fileset for testing I can IM or FTP it to you. |

Kovid:
Looks like I may have misunderstood: from your previous response it seems you are using a command line to convert with any2lrf. The log you attached certainly lists the Title and Author. When I asked the original question however I meant in the Graphical inferface for windows - i.e. When you add a *.rar file into the graphical database, the book seems to be listed as unknown author and title. I have been adding my books the the GUI and then using a batch conversion on them. But the GUI does not seem to pick up the author and title for the DB listing of the books. |

When you add a rar file, it doesn't read metadata from the RAR file. It only reads metadata from .lit, .lrf, .rtf and .pdf files. Also, once you add a book to the database, it is stored in the database and any changes you make to the file on the disk are not picked up. You can use the bulk metadata edit function of the GUI to easily edit metadata for a large number of files.

Kovid, thanks for these great tools!
![]() ![]() One issue I'm having, though, is that my paragraphs aren't being indented (at least, not in lrfviewer). I got a book in LIT, blew it up with ConvertLIT (the HTML looks great, nice paragraph indents), and then used libprs500 to convert to LRF. At first I wasn't using the CSS file and I was wondering why all the nice formatting got lost (paragraphs were nicely indented, though). Then I used the CSS file and everything looks right, except that there's no indenting at all. Any idea what might be going wrong, or how I can fix it? EDIT: I just tried changing the text-indent from "5%" to "20px" and that gave me nice indents. Are % values no good for html2lrf? Last edited by Covak; 11-23-2007 at 12:39 PM. |
