Ah I see what you mean. I suspect the PDF file doesn't use unicode internally, which is why it isn't working. Find a unicode font that supports vietnamese and it should work.

Would it be possible to add hyphenation to libprs500? That is so it hyphenates the LRF properly as long as we generate it for use at small only. We can already change the font size so that's not an issue really. Just Generate it so we read at small. And since we have the fonts the reader uses available, you can figure out how to set the hyphen. That would be a really nice enhancement.

Full justification is impossible since there is no way to control the width of spaces. Ragged right is possible, but it would be a lot of work for the benefit.

The 500/505 do a good job of figuring out the dithering. So if you have a 500 and move to a 505 you'll have more shades for dithering with.

First off, kovidgoyal, your awesome!
I have so many questions on how best to format the html and css to get what I am looking for... but rather than bugging you with that before reading the 45 pages of posts, I have just one request. Can you open up or set up a wiki for documenting use of this program? I'm sure that there is enough use and interest in the community that the project will get documented fairly rapidly. ![]() |

If you contact me by IM or email or private message I'll set you up with write access to the wiki at libprs500.kovidgoyal.net. Register to get an account first.

About the wiki, could you post somewhere the list of libraries and which version you use for libprs500?
Right now they only appear within the install instructions for various distros. Unfortunately, the distribution I use (Mandriva) lacks the latest of some of these libs. Having such a list would make it much easier for me to track them down and install them by hand. Thanks |

The dependencies are now enumerated in the other linux distribution section.

Thanks.
Side note: I could find mechanize for python neither in mandriva's repositories, nor as a lib to install by hand on the net. BUT You can have it installed using easy_install ![]() |

First off, love the program!! It's great! I especially love the news downloads. Very cool.
I think I might have some html docs that have problems. html2lrf doesn't exactly choke on it, but I get errors about cells being too large, or just plain "unable to process". The html documents are ones I created by using wget so that I could read the site on my PDA during my commute. The sites are www.av8n.com and www.whittsflying.com. Checking on whittsflying, he's made some minor changes (I copied the site a year or so ago). I saw earlier in the thread that you wanted any html docs that caused problems, so let me know if you want copies of the docs I'm working with. Thanks again for the great program! |

Table cells being too large typically happens when a website uses tables for positioning text, in that case the table markup is ignores, so if the final output looks OK you can ignore the errors.
Run with the --verbose switch to find out more about the unable to process error. |

Ah ok. I'll try it with --verbose and see what I get.
Thanks! |

I tried --ignore-tables, and it works OK. But there are some examples that don't work out well without them. I'm trying BD as well, but it's got issues of it's own (it's ignoring the subsequent pages and only rendering the first page).
The --verbose option showed that the "unable to proces" was a section of the website I didn't download. So that makes sense. I'll keep plugging away at it. |
