I'll be getting my entire fantasy backlist out there as I can, but right now it's represented by A Feral Darkness--a contemporary fantasy suspense, bonus points if you enjoy dogs and are willing to look at Celtic gods with a new eye. I chose to put it out first because it's the fantasy that seems, over the years, to have resonated with the widest range of readers/genres.

Hidden Steel and making the Rules are both action-romance with strong women and the men who are strong enough to love them. Hidden Steel has a ton of heart; Making the Rules has attitude, a great Basque setting, and partners who have learned to love but have yet to learn how deeply their trust goes.

I have a pretty good list of guys who've read and enjoyed the romances--it's a Jane Bond kind of approach to the genre. ;>

Eventually I'd love to get certain of the books gathered into omnibi(?) as you did! I know I buy them that way--have several trilogy deals from Books on Board waiting on my Nook even now.

(I can rarely resist Nora Roberts, what can I say.)

Lots of us Backlist eBook authors are participating in Smashwords' Read an eBook sale, if anyone's interested. There's no one central list of participating authors (we had very little advance notice of the sale), but if you're interested in DRM-free, discounted (25% - 100%) books by proven, established authors, you might want to check out the links authors have posted on these sites:

Doranna Durgin's WordPlay blog

Jeffrey Carver's Pushing a Snake Up a Hill blog

Julie Ortolon's Facebook page

The sale ends Saturday, so there's not much more time to take advantage of it!

Just got all of the PB Ryan backlist, I'm glad that RAEBW is nearly over, I'll be lucky to read everything I've got in time to start again next year. Fantastic.

Gender is the idenfication of, to put it crudely, what is between your legs.

A Male has a penis a female has a vagina. (sorry Freud, it wasn't penis envy, women were envious of the freedom a man had, not their equipment). Your sexual organs states if you are male or female gender.

And that can even be off in that aspect; for our true gender is determined by the gland at the back of your head (can't remember what it is called) that send the hormone for whatever gender you are, testertone for a male and estrogen for a female.

And I won't go into the androgeneous individuals, who were born with both gender organs.

Okay, enough of biopsychology, I HATED that class.

Obviously, you've never purchased baby chicks (not of the mammalian variety), which are Sexed to determine their Sex (which is also called Sexing).

Pat

I'm going to go and check out some of these authors, for me the key word is DRM free. If it is the digital restrictive management type, I won't buy it.

I am really enjoying finding new authors to read.

Another place for authors to go and connect with readers is the Amazon communities. Some of the people there can be jerks. Amazon just kicked off some who were really rude to some indie authors.
But, for the most part we love to meet and talk to authors.

I learned differently than you, Janette55:

Gender is that set of characteristics that distinguish between male and female. These are not physical characteristics. It can include sex, meaning the biological set of characteristics that distinguish from male and female (penis and vagina). However, more often than not, it ranges from social role to gender identity. Gender is also a social construct that is put in place from the moment you are born and a doctor declares you to be male or female. The divide between sex as biology and gender as role was first established in 1955. It's true that "gender" has come to describe, in common usage, "sex," but there is a growing push, especially in feminist circles, to make the distinction between sex as a specific set of organs, and gender as a social construct.

No, I haven't but it would seem to me that the method you are refering to is to determine if the chick is a male or female.

It can be stated however anyone wants to, but sex is an actual act, whereas gender is the sociological, biological idenfication of whether it is a male or female.

When buying plants, you will see it notes that the bush is a male or female, even plugs are identified as male or female.

Society uses the word sex because that was the way it was done years and years ago. On a birth certificate it will ask what sex. That does not mean it is correct. There is a law that says a man can beat his wife a certain number of time. We no longer follow that law because we know present day that is abusive behavior. We still stick to old methods, termionology because it is comfortable. The same as some people state that a reader is wrong, books are to be made of paper, so you can feel it and smell it, that the experience of holding a book is better.
Yet, we have progressed to the point where many of us, me included, now feel that a reader is just as good as a book.

The quote given from the OP was from a time when letter were hand written and delived by means other than electrical, or wireless. It was a method to determine if the sender was male or female; their gender.

We use saying all the time and hardly ever think of it orgin. Where did the phrase "running arould like a chicken without it's head" come from? Or, "grabbed the wrong end of a stick"?
Many do not (I definitely do, I helped to chase those chicken when I was a kid) and I had looked up the other one out of curiousity. Orgins can be quite interesting.
Anyhow, for years mankind has been asking questions of what sex is the baby, but the correct one should be what gender, it was the sex that created that baby.

Enough said, everyone has the right to believe as they want. I just agree with many who see that the word sex means a physical action and gender is the identification of where whatever is being examine is male or female.

have you considered wordpress as a platform for your site? it is free, and even better, there are literally thousands of site designs called themes.

another option is a very inexpensive link site management program called linkx from jmbsoft. we use it for some of our sites, and it has many more features than are listed.

if either of these appeal, pm me and i can help out.

btw, just noticed Doranna Durgin is here. i just re-read the changespell books for the fourth time, i think. nice to see you here

Thanks so much for buying my books! My all-time favorite scene is the one in the police station at the beginning of STILL LIFE WITH MURDER. Enjoy!

As a matter of fact, we're in the process of having an ambitious "ubersite" professionally designed on a WordPress platform, so you're definitely preaching to the choir. Thanks for the suggestions!

As Pat already said, there's definitely some Great Minds Think Alike going on there. We're so excited about the ubersite, we can't stand it. ;>

And thanks for the welcome! I've got my settings here so I usually get notice of posts (I bop around between too many forums to keep track, sad to say), but I didn't see one for your comment. I didn't mean to ignore such a kind post!
