The charger is "universal" (look at the "Input voltage" spec printed on the charger itself), however it's not a good idea to use a plug adaptor for "permanent" use. The charger just has a standard "figure 8" connector; the best thing to do is go to any electrical shop and buy a UK figure-8 power lead.

The Reader uses the same power connector as the Playstation Portable, so another alternative is to go to your local video game shop and buy a PSP charger to use with your Reader.

Hi. I'm new to this forum and appreciate all of the useful info on this site. I live in Canada and am on the verge of buying a Sony PRS-505. This thread has useful info relating to the PRS-500 purchases outside US and related software, however could use clarification from anyone who has recently purchased the PRS-505 in Canada on the items below:

1. There is currently a $100 credit on a PRS-505 purchase for downloading classics from Sony Iconnect. Would appreciate input from anyone who has successfully claimed the credit outside of US. I understand that one must register as a US user. Any other words of wisdom would be appreciated.

2. Vendor of choice appears to be bhphotovideo.com. Any other reputable vendor names used recently that ship internationally aside from EBay?

3. Can one use Iconnect as a "US" user with a Cdn credit card, or do you need to arrange gift certificates on Iconnect through a US contact?

Hi I havent even got my 505 yet but I live in England so have looked into all of this and the basic answers are

1, Yes you can use the credit! when you register just tick the box that says you are a US resident.

2, BH are great I have used them before ultra reliable and fast delivery, I couldnt find any others.

3, You must use a US credit card on the site! so like you say a contact in the US to buy gift card for you is the only option.

Stustaff... thanks for the input. I presume that Iconnect is not the only option for getting ebooks. There seem to be many available on this site, and I suppose converting files is always an option (preferably if quick and easy!). Thanks again.

Iconnect isnt the only way no! I have found books available in .lit format for sale and it is possible to convert these with software. The info on that is on the Wiki.

Sorry, when you say "IConnect" are you referring to the Connect Book Store? I don't believe there's an "I" in the name, is there, unless they've added it since I last looked

I got PRS 505 for my wife from Adorama to-day delivered to Sweden after a long wait. Now we have both 500 and 505 in the family.

I take the opportunity to express my gratitude for the usefull stuff found in this forum and my admiration for the zeal and genious of the ingeneers of new hacks and solutions.

It is just fantastic!

I've just placed my order for one with b&h as well.
Couldn't find any negative comments about b&h, uploading scans of my credit card is not something i normally do...
