I use Bongo on the 'as required' term, and have found them very good, and their operators extremely helpful.

Yes but they want you to wire money to them for the once off, and I don't wire money to anyone

Really? I haven't been asked to wire money to them for the 'one off' use, only when I enquired about using their 'personal shopper' service (which is only available with the monthly use option).

Yay, I just received my new 505 (dark blue). For the curious and those in similar situation - I live in Slovakia, the Reader was mailed via US mail, 1st class and it took 7d to get to me. I had a friend buy it for me, and I used Western Union to send him money. All in all, the reader cost me 352$.

it is indeed in stock with BHP....ordered two yesterday and UPS have picked them up already.
Not the cheapest option, but at least they ship internationally and they are reliable. With any luck in 3-5 days I'll be selecting my second lot of free classics :-)

got mine

First I tried smarthome.com they sell to Europe and they took my order but they came back to me and said that sony dont allow them to ship outside US
Then I tried datavis but they wanted funds transferred by wire.
The same with Bongo.com the forwarding crowd but they also wanted a 3 month contract with them for a PO box
Next I tried B&H but they were out of stock.
So I went onto ebay and found a shop odditycommodities which had 16 in stock at $349 the delivery to Ireland for 1 was $36 but I wanted 2 so it was $50, This is by post so they should bypass customs here
so I ordered them and they are being shipped by post marked as gifts for the grand total of €515 for both ( if the customs dont get me).
I will let you know how it goes.

I received mine from this seller rather quicker than I'd thought (less than a week) and didn't pay any taxes (I'm in France), so I got it for 280€, not too bad !

I thought that looked like a good idea.

So I just went to try it and got this message through Google Checkout.

"Note: B&H Photo Video does not ship to Australia".

Can you please let us know whether they ship yours?

Adorama Cancel

Hi maxk,

I did just the same as kaboom, cancelled with Adorama and ordered with B&H. So far everything went quite smoothly. I did not register, but tried the "direct" way. Maybe that did the trick. Be prepared to fax or upload the front and back of your credit card that is what want from first time customers. Good luck!

Yeah I'm still holding out on Adorama until I see B&H has actually shipped one. Secondly I'm not prepared to e-mail images of my credit card, so if they don't have a secure upload facility for that then I'll have to continue my search.
