I see no contradiction between what you said and what I said.
I'm the one who's lost now. In any case I agree with you.

I used the MSRP 'cause that's more common, but could be any price.
Given that retailers get volume discounts the MSRP helps prevent that the big fishes take advantage of that hurting the rest of the distribution chain.

Of course I could be wrong, this is not my area of expertise.

Nah, I think I just confused myself. Happens more than I like to admit.

You could go look in the flea market and find the message where I'm offering to get a 505 for someone overseas and put in that you want one and you could get one that way.

But nobody has yet to get a 505 from Adorama and nobody here knows anything about them. B&H has no stock of 505 yet.

Adorama are a very reputable store when it comes to cameras, etc. They have an excellent reputation.

A number of people have bought them via eBay. I don't believe anyone's managed to find a shop which has them in stock and ships internationally.

Perhaps you should consider a CyBook Gen3 instead?

By the time we pay CyBook shipping and silly VAT weirdness we'd be paying EBay PRS-505 prices.

If you're in the EU you're going to have to pay VAT whether you buy a Sony Reader or a CyBook. The Sony may appear cheaper, but I think you'll find that it works out pretty much the same after you've paid import duties and VAT if you buy one from the US.

The problem is that B&H does not yet have the 505 in stock and we have no idea when. So at present, you cannot order from them.

I'm referring to a post someone made in the CyBook forum about them adding VAT automatically to the price when the consumer was in Australia. If that gets worked out it might be a nice buy.

BTW I just got an update from Adorama, maybe automatic, an apology that they're still waiting for shipment of the 505/blue.

I'm really quite happy to wait in order to get it at a reasonable price.
