Does anybody have experience with DataVision?

They have the PRS-505 for only $280:
http://www.datavis.com/Sony_PRS_505_...ital_Book.html
They do seem to ship internationally, though you need to pay with an American Express credit card or pay by a bank wire transfer.

Furthermore they list the thing under "Handheld Organizers", which means (IIRC) that you have to pay less taxes on it when you import it into the EU.

So, I'm considering to buy from them, but I before I do so I would like to know if anybody has some experience in dealing with them.

When I click to see the features of the specs, it changes to say it's not available.

You could try paying by American Express and that way if you don't get it, you can call AmEx to sort it out. I would so not wire transfer.

You're right, for some links it says the reader is available and for other links it says you can pre-order. Weird.

Also, I looked around on the net a bit and saw that they get a lot of bad reviews.
So I think I'll just wait a bit until some more reliable stores get the new reader.

The link is available for me abd the price looks pretty appealing.

But when I navigated to the checkout page, I was required to filling a field for which state I live in the U.S. even if I have selected my country to non-U.S.

Isn't it kind of a wired thing?

When you create an account, you can choose any State, so you can modify it after that. I tried to order but th checkout button does'nt apear. I think they do not ship worldwide.

Weird indeed.

If you click on customer support they have a section about international orders.
So I guess they can ship internationally, but their website can't handle it.
Maybe you should contact their customer support.

But, because of the reviews I've seen on the net, I personally would order somewhere else, those $20 are not worth the risk IMO.

Hi,

You are right, Martijn.

I guess I would also pay 299$ instead in order to avoid the risk.

I looked at the pics of the 505 and I don't think I would like that one. All the small page buttons, 1-9 on the right, I can just see me pushing those by accident more than I push the ones down at the bottom now. I do like the idea of the paging on the right though since there is already one on the left hand side......

That may be a problem with the 505, actually, since pressing those buttons just brings up the "Goto Page" menu, rather than actually jumping somewhere.
