That's a weird one. Restarting calibre is probably the only thing you can do. If it happens again, try to work out what was happening at the time.

In the log, I do not see anything from Goodreads Sync. The messages that it is loading are there, but, I do not see anything suggesting you tried to use a function in the plugin. Did you do something?

There are plenty of other errors. The most common is a template error. I am not sure where the template is being used, but, it appears to be trying to use another custom column called "#estado".

Changeing core.py:426
from
def get_goodreads_books_on_shelves(self, user_name, shelves, per_page=200):
to
def get_goodreads_books_on_shelves(self, user_name, shelves, per_page=100):
seems to have fixed it.

Unzip the plugin, open core.py (I did this with the Atom app on a Mac) and change the line 426 as described above. Re-zip the plugin files and load it into calibre.

Hello,

I'm having a slight problem: each time I plug my Kobo into my computer and sync it with Calibre, a few books I've read several months ago keep being added to my read list on Goodread, so it looks like I've read them a dozen times by now. I haven't opened those books since I've finished them.

Is there a way to fix that issue?

The only way that would work is if you have the Kobo Utilities plugin installed and it is fetching the reading status from the device. This has an option to call the progress update function of the Goodreads Sync to update the status on GR. If this is happening, you should be seeing a dialog from both plugins (though there was request to allow skipping the KU plugins dialog and I forget if I implemented that).

The most likely thing is that you have the Kobo Utilities status configured to fetch the status for all books. If you change it to only fetch the status for unfinished and recent changes (the options are called "Not if finished in library" and "Only if more recent") it should fix this. If that isn't the case, then I need to see a debug log from calibre to work out what is happening.

And, for both the plugins, if you cancel the dialogs, no updates will happen.

I solve timing the reading shelf, that my shelf has more than 200 books.

I have just released version 1.15.1 of the plugin. This is to fix the recent problem with syncing shelves.

The change is:

Fix: Sync 100 books per shelf as with 200 it just keeps going.

Thanks to @andrew.c12 for working this out. And my apologies for not releasing this earlier.

Calibre should announce the update in the next hour or so. And if there are any problems, please report them in this thread.

I've noticed an oddity while adding some books to shelves. Goodreads appears to have silently changed the Goodreads ID associated with some of them. For example, the book that used to be at https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/47587632 is now at https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/51145665. When following the link there it redirects just fine, but Goodreads Sync throws a "a book with this ID doesn't exist" error when I try to shelve it.

It's not a very big deal to me, I'll just tell Goodreads Sync to relink these books and get their new IDs. But I figured it'd be worth mentioning here. With the API retirement looming perhaps not worth fixing?
