Does anybody know how Norève keeps this slim cover closed? There is no clasp. Do they have magnets in the book flap and the rim? If it isn't kept closed, it can easily open when it's in a bag, and because of the auto-sleep/wake function, it'll turn on.
Maybe I'll send a mail to Norève about this ![]() |

I don't see anything of a magnet in the casing. So, I don't think it'll be kept close by anything. Not a problem for me, as I also don't have a problem with the cover of my tablet (it did contain magnets, but they've all fallen out by now

Most cheap covers have visible magnets/metal on the right, or a protrusion holding the magnet/metal. I don't like either. Norève should have a way to keep the cover closed, or it will possibly open on its own if the device is stashed into a bag. If that happens, it'll turn on and drain the battery. It would make the auto-wake/sleep function useless. My KPW1 cover has magnets worked into the corners, but that is a cover that covers the entire reader including the bezels, just like the Gecko one. If it's closed, it even requires a bit of effort to open. Norève says: Quote:

The customer service has already answered. I asked if the cover has hidden magnets, or if it has another closure such as a clasp (which may not be in the picture as the cover is not yet out).
They said that the cover has a magnetic fastener (we knew that already, but I wanted more information about that), and no clasp, and then referred me to the cover that had a clasp. So now I'm confused. - Did they think I wanted the one with a clasp? - Did they refer me to that one because the one without the clasp doesn't stay closed? I've asked the straightforward question "Does the cover without the clasp stay closed on its own?" now. Let's see. If it does, I'll order one in black (smooth, real leather), with a dark grey lining. If I like the cover, I don't really mind the price, because I'm going to use this reader day in day out, in public transport and at home, for years to come. I've kept my KPW1 for four years, and the KA1 is the first reader that offered something substantial to really upgrade for. (The larger screen, in combination with the Kobo font options.) The chance of me replacing this reader within 5 years, short of it failing, are very low... or someone would need to introduce a somehow superlative reader. Oh, drat. I asked Norève if the cover will stay closed on its own. The anwser is that the clasp will stay closed because of the magnets. It seems I can't make myself clear.
I've aksed the question again, worded a bit differently: "Will the cover that does NOT have a clasp still stay closed?" I hope the answer is yes, because then I'll order one. |

I took a look at the descriptions of both covers and there is a difference in the wording in English as well as in German (my French is abominable,so it won't be of any help) that says what they do. The one with the flap has a magnet that enables the sleep/wake function. The plain one has a magnet that closes the cover and enables the sleep/wake function.
I am sure it will stay closed. Even in your bag. FWIW I never heard of a cover that wouldn't (as long as it is intact). ETA They have a 100% satisfied or money back garantuee anyway. Last edited by Poppaea; 10-13-2016 at 07:15 AM. |

It seems my last question was clear enough. They replied:
"YES, even without clasp the cover will stay closed due to the magnetic fastener." That will probably cinch the deal for me. I think I'll be ordering one in smooth black with grey lining. I really like the old style Patina look, but €150 for a cover is a bit over the top, even for me. |

Yes, I was sorely tempted by that one, but I didn't want tempt fate too much...
