You know what? 2 days ago I've bought original sleep cover, but today I finally received http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Ultra-Slim-Sm...-/282218702583 this cheap cover. Just shipping was very slow, almost a month. But I like it more than original one so far. It fits better than original, no smell at all, sleep function works properly, it is slim and soft inside. I don't know is it durable or not, because front part is very thin, but for know I am quite happy with it and will return original cover.

I have the Gecko cover (http://www.geckocovers.nl/kobo-aura-...roof-luxe.html) and this other one: https://www.hoesjesboetiek.nl/Kobo-A...eepcover-bruin
With both covers I most often have to close the cover a second time in order to get the reader to shut down (light off, going to standby mode). If I leave it without checking this (peeping through the usb-hole to see if the light is out), the Kobo will not turn off at all and drain itself quickly (even if preset to turn off after 5 minutes inactivity). Is this a bug other users also experience? And if so, is there a cure? |

What? And give *MY* whip to *YOU*, as you seem to expect? Forget it

![]() Back on topic: I'm possibly going to receive one of the other covers today or tomorrow. The shipment dates aren't exact; one comes from Germany, the other from the UK. With regard to covers not putting the reader to sleep: that is because the sleep magnet is not positioned correctly, or the cover has play in the lid. That sucks, because it can also make the reader turn on if the cover or lid moves in a bag. |

I've received the Forefront cover.
Basically, it's fine, but it still has problems. It has a cutout for the USB-port on the bottom, but strangely, it has the same cutout on the top. It does stay shut when closed: there is a magnet in the lid, and the counterpart magnet is *in the reader*. (That's the reason why the Noreve cover needs to be jammed under that lip on the right: if it sits on top of the lip, the cover doesn't stay shut.) This cover has a magnet block (sticker) inside so the sleep cover magnet doesn't put the cover to sleep when folded back. Irritatingly enough, the sleep magnet in the lid (which is a different one than the magnet keeping the cover shut) is too small: only two or three milimeters of play is enough to turn the reader back on. One in five times, the reader doesn't shut off when you close the lid because the magnet is not *exactly* there where it should be. I wonder why nobody can get this stuff right. Use a magnet five times as big as the detector magnet, for fracks sake. The reader goes in and out of the cover easily; basically comparable to the Noreve. It has a bit of play between the reader and the shell on the right hand side, so it feels somewhat 'squishy' there. Maybe I'm going to still keep the Noreve cover, hoping that the leather will loosen up so the lid falls in place more easily and doesn't sit askew. If I do, I'll have to find out what kind of magnet block sticker that is which is used in the Forefront cover. I'll wait for the MoKo cover. If I can't find anything to satify me in this regard, I'm going to put a magnet block into the Noreve cover, return the other covers to the respective Amazon sellers, and then sell the Aura ONE and Noreve cover as a pair. I'll then return to my four year old Kindle, even though it's only 6 inches. I haven't the time nor patience left to keep jackassing around with this stuff, and I refuse to spend even more money on it. Last edited by Katsunami; 11-11-2016 at 07:52 AM. |

I'll have to write a few amendments with regard to the previous post.
- The Forefront case is fine. It can withstand about 5mm of play before the the ONE turns back on again. That is quite much, IMHO. - The Forefront case has a magnet in the lid to keep the case shut. It attaches to a magnet in the bezel of the ONE. The Noreve case doesn't have such a magnet. It is shut by friction-fitting the lid under a lip on the right sight of the case. - The Kobo not powering down one in five times is solely due to the Kobo reader. I've tested it, and sometimes it just doesn't ... shut ... down. Not even if you slowly put the lid of the case exactly where it should be. No amount of wiggling gets it to shut off. You'll have to open the cover and close it again, or press the back button. (And if you wiggle the lid, the reader will turn pages or select text, just as with the original cover.) As I said in the previous post, I'm getting very close to putting the KA1 up for sale. While it reads like the best, the bugs are just getting to me. |

>MoKo cover
I just got mine from https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J0RVD3Q Fit is good, and unlike the last cover I bought, it doesnt smell like sewage There's a magnet in the case cover so it closes well and stays shut unfortunately the auto sleep/wake function does not work, no matter how much I try to manipulate how I close and open the cover, which is disappointing Eventually unless i find a case that does everything right I think I will just keep the KA1 bare and store it in this sleeve https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I8T4OLG BTW the sleeve is a little loose for the bare KA1 but the KA1 + Moko case is a perfect fit |

So you might try contacting them. It's possible you just got a defective cover. At the least, they should know that the sleep feature does not work. I just saw that Kobo isn't expecting to have more Aura ONE's back in stock until early 2017 so I'm hoping they will have some of the issues ironed out by then. Fingers crossed. It's hard waiting! It really seems to be difficult to make a KA1 case that ticks all the basic boxes! |

I can't believe that is the fault of the Forefront case to be honest, because otherwise, it's a perfect fit. (Literally, including the magnet block to keep the reader on when folded back.) I'm going to return the Forefront case, try to return the Noreve, and when it arrives (it's already late, as it should have been here today), the Moko if it doesn't work either. If *that* happens, I'll throw the KA1 up for sale as well and you'll never see me buying a Kobo reader again in the next 5 years. I just hoped they had fixed their issues after 5 years, but apparently they haven't. There are always new ones cropping up. The KA1 is a great piece of hardware with regard to reading, and I love it for that, but it seems to be ruined by so many issues with regard to convenience functions. Fluttering backlight (brighter/dimmer), fluttering natural light (more orange/less orange), sometimes doesn't detect brighter/dimmer touch on the left, sleep/wake issues, ghost touches / page turns even with the original cover, it drains the battery faster than a Kindle when in sleep mode... it's just too many issues to stay satisfied. ONLY having the 7.8 inch screen isn't enough. If I disable all of that, I can just as well use any other reader, even if they're only 6 inch. And my KPW1 goes to sleep instantly and reliably for four years already. Last edited by Katsunami; 11-11-2016 at 04:08 PM. |
