Who knows...

Font support on the Kobo seems to be very delicate, things have to be Just So, or one will run into troubles.

Font support on Kobo is very good. I don't find it to be delicate.

What would I have to do with FontForge to remove hinting so I can see if the font I am using looks better or not without hinting? Thanks.

Open the font file. Then; File > Generate Fonts > Options > Untick TrueType Hints

Like this: http://screens.muratcansimsek.com/Sc...2021.03.53.png

You can use EB Garamond to check. It has very good, handmade hinting. Removing them drastically improves rendering on eInk with small sizes. It is an absolutely gorgeous typeface too. I believe it is one of the best free typefaces out there together with Libre Baskerville.

Here it is without hints and correctly named: http://drop.muratcansimsek.com/EBGaramond.zip

Hi,
I use Charis modified version, and just love it!
I have one question tho :
My kobo show text in different size, so if I read 2 books, I have to change text size every time. I'm pretty sure it's due to ccs into each epub, so my question is how can you easily change text size to a personal standard?
Thanks!

By going into the CSS and removing the font-size command for the main text. Some publishers do add in 1em font size. Some make it small. So yes, the text size can be different for different books. So unless you manually edit the CSS, the font size can be different. If you use Calibre, the editor will do for fixing this. But, you have to have your books sans DRM.

For the main body text of an eBook, I would not have any font size specified. This gives you the default font size for the Reader. Most Readers default to a size of 1em if no font size is specified. But even if the default sie is not 1em, it means that when you set a size you like, all eBooks would then use that same size for the main text of the books instead of being different sizes.

On a Kobo Reader, using pt or px to specify a font size is ignored. You have to use em for a font size (or the words that specify a font size such as small, medium, large, etc.).

I have a Glo HD and I'm having a lot of problems with using Charis as my main font.

Its spliting the last line of text in two halves, with the top part of the line at the bottom of the page and the bottom of the line at the top of the next page. I have tried increasing the line spacing starting at the narrowest setting but its not making any difference unless I make the lines so wide apart I only get 17 lines of text.

I am reading calibre created kepubs with the standard headers and footers as I don't have full screen reading in the config file. Is there anything I can do to get Charis working with more lines of text on the page? Its fine on my H20 but that has a larger screen.

I don't understand patching so I don't really want to start playing around like that.

When you added the font, did you restart your Glo HD?

Other than that, I can't think of anything that could cause this issue. Unless it's another symptom of PANOSE information set incorrectly.

Kepub does not like it when the line height of a font is too close together. Try increasing the line height until Charis displays properly.

Thank you.I have actually changed to Charis Compact on the Glo and I'm not having any problems at all even with the line spacing almost at its closest (just one from the narrowest).

I was using modified larger which is on my H20

Hi

Do you know Buenard?

Buenard exists only with a regular (400) and bold (700) font. It looks like Baskerville, though it's a different font.

As a regular-and free- font, I find Buenard amazing. You can side-load it with Kobo, and, it also works very well, if need be, with the advanced font control from Metazoa.

Another comparison.
