Could you be more specific about what confuses you? (I wrote the tutorial and showed each step with a screen grab). The whole process is really simpler to do than it is to describe, and all the screen grabs make it look like more work than it really is:

In any order:
Open FFF
Open FFD
Open a text file where you store URLS

In the order shown:
Populate FFF's "Download from URLs"
Copy the results into the text file & save it
Load the text file into FFD via the menu
Run the downloads in FFD.
When FFD is done, go back to the FFF "download from URLS" window and let it run.


However, now that the Flaresolverr option is working, that's way fewer steps, and it's my current preference for fanficnet. Either is quicker and requires much less hands-on attention than using WebtoEpub or clicking through each chapter that you need to download, then using the browser cache.

Question: From the default ini I understood that it was possible to have multiple conditions for cover generation. Is it possible to have conditions over manually fed custom columns?
I have a Reading custom column with entries like 'Dropped' 'Finished' 'To Read', and would like to add these covers automatically with the correct fandom:

NarutoReading
NarutoDropped
NarutoFinished

generate_cover_settings:
 ${category} => Naruto => NarutoToRead

If it's not possible via a custom column, is it possible via the ao3 bookmarksummary? The beginning of my bookmark notes start with the status.

FFF has a feature in the personal.ini tab: Pass Calibre Columns into FanFicFare on Update/Overwrite. When enabled, that will pass existing Calibre columns into FFF's update process. There's a button to show you what they will all look like inside FFF.

You should be able to use those in generate_cover_settings settings.

However, there's a significant limitation: those are the values before FFF's update has run. If you change or set those column values during the FFF update, the new values will not be visible inside FFF until the next update.

- Remove site www.squidge.org/peja now hosted on squidgeworld.org
- Remove site faerie-archive.com - redirects to some sketchy looking ad sites.
- Remove site fanfiction-junkies.de - redirects to ad site.
- Remove site it-could-happen.net - redirects to some sketchy looking ad sites.
- Remove site sebklaine.net - redirects to some sketchy looking ad sites.
- Remove site nha.magical-worlds.us - redirects to something unrelated.

One last test version before the next release; removing sites that haven't worked in +6 months and don't have own DNS anymore.

(There are another +20 'supported' sites that are various flavors of broken, some for years. But they are kept since the site or DNS is still active and they may come back.)

I'd have to see the error to be certain, but "maximum recursion depth exceeded" usually means the author uploaded HTML with too many nested tags.

FYI, I don't go looking for edits in past posts--it's just chance I noticed this one.

Setting titlepage_use_table:true and keep_summary_html:false does not provide the summary text with its own <td> tag. On a related note, I've attempted to overwrite wide_titlepage_entries because colspan="2" also messes with the formatting, to no effect.

Basically, it looks like this:

<tr><td colspan="2"><b>Summary:</b>Summary text here.</td></tr>

When it (afaik) needs to look like this:

<tr><td><b>Summary:</b></td><td>Summary text here.</td></tr>

Bug or user error here, any ideas?

Dunno off hand--titlepage_use_table is an ancient feature from ~10 years ago that I never use.

What personal.ini section did you set wide_titlepage_entries in? It's under [epub] in defaults.ini, which takes precedence over personal.ini [defaults] and [<site>] sections.

This worked for me:

wide_titlepage_entries:
titlepage_use_table:true

See the INI-File wiki page for more details on the sections' precedence.

That did it. Brilliant, thank you! I had it set in [defaults] first, then put it in a site-specific section -- I was apparently operating under the assumption that the latter would take precedence over [epub], probably because of their order in personal.ini, but it's good to know better.
