The upgraded 500 will work on a MAC as it is now a USB mass storage device. So no need to have a custom USB driver any longer.

Hmmmmm. Went to the "new" store and had to reset my password, but it has my books......but.....but.....some are "unavailable"
Still have not tried downloading any of them... Update: I downloaded one of my books (was a freebie) - it came down as DRM-Epub. followed the process successfully. Last edited by kennyc; 12-11-2009 at 06:18 AM. |

So far works fantastically on my macbook....tried it on my primary windows PC (running Vista Business),installed fine....crashes when I try to access the bookstore. Not even going to try upgrading the netbook yet...time to try and figure out how to make this new version work or revert back to the prior....and to think I thought this would be relatively painless *eye roll*

In the predictable Sony tradition, the Reader Library update v3.1 is a train wreck. On my end, it's as unusable as it ever was.
Sony makes great hardware, but their software is regrettable. I don't understand why they can't seem to get it together. iTunes can manage hundreds of thousands of files - with impeccable stability and zero lag. The Reader Library, on the other hand, can barely handle a few dozen text files. The software's primitive functionality is bad enough. (It drives me crazy that you can't even modify the title/author metadata.) But it's inexcusable that the software doesn't work... |

There has to be something wrong with the computers that Reader Library doesn't work on. I've had no issues with eBook Library 3.0.x under XP, Win 7, & Vista. No longer have Vista, but Reader Library works on XP and Win 7.

Hmm. I downloaded "The Father Thing", a sample DRM-ed book from Adobe (when I registered for the Adobe DRM system. I also downloaded "Headless Males Make Great Lovers" form the U of Chicago monthly giveaway. They are both in my Reader Library.
Neither version 3.0 nor version 3.1 are able to sync them with the Reader. And none of the books on the Reader without DRM are being synced with the Reader Library. The Status thing just keeps spinning, and the process dies when I close the Library software. This software seems pretty crappy, but maybe I am missing something. |

Oh, never mind, I need to authorize it (it could have said something instead of just failing over and over forever). Can anyone tell me the difference between authorizing the Sony Store ID and authorizing the Adobe DRM ID? Can I do both?

Seems that the ones having issues are on Vista or Mac.

I use Adobe when I download from the library, Sony from the Sony store and calibre for managing my readers. |

Ok, I have it working now, but I only activated the Adobe DRM (since I didn't buy anything from Sony yet).

I have not bought anything new either, but did download an epub of a previously purchased lrx. And that worked fine - including it's liberation. I did do an "upgrade" of the Sony library though, it may have transferred my info somehow, but I didn't have to do anything with DRM or serial numbers or anything like that. My 505 (as well as my Astak PP) are both registered with Adobe DE and the 505 with the Sony Library application. |

PRS-600 new Sony software
I've tried several times to download the new software and like the old version, I guess I'm going to end up calling support to get everything up and running. Yesterday I got an error message and this morning the message Reader Library has stopped working. I was hoping with the updates that I would be able to get things going without all this messing around. I have Vista--any other suggestions??? Another question-do you also have to update the Adobe digital?
