I thought that you had to restart the Kindle before it would register the new screensavers. If so, your technique wouldn't work very well.

Thomass: You should check out fbdev's new ssknap app -- he's already accomplished exactly what it sounds like you're aiming for.

Thx for the hacks and efforts, i've just installed all of them and work fine.

But with the fonthack if i want to use the original fonts in some moment wich ones are them?

I guess that :

Serif_Regular.ttf: KindleBlackboxRegular
Serif_Bold.ttf: KindleBlackboxBold
Serif_Italic.ttf: KindleBlackboxItalic
Serif_BoldItalic.ttf: KindleBlackboxBoldItalic

¿And the Rest wich ones are ?

Sans_Regular.ttf: ¿?

Mono_*.ttf: ¿?

@NiLuJe May I ask you about the purpose of \etc\font*.properties and \etc\font.properties-3-nocondensed in your linkfonts?

What are the relationship between these 4 font mapping files and 3 user selectable Typeface and which one is using in web browser?

Hi, I copied the jailbreak bin file to my kindle 3 (version 3.1, 3G+wifi, american) and restarted it, the response was "your update was unsuccessful, error code 3"

Does anybody know what wrong with it?

Hello!
I'm newbie in the kindle and had problems to install the screensaver hack.

I have a registred international Kindle 3.2.1 wifi with special offer.

I installed the jailbreak without problems. Then, I installed the screensaver hack, also no problems. However, the screen ads still appearing!!!
I've tried deleting the ads folders, but the picture asking me to connect the wi-fi continues!

What's the problem?
That ads really upset me!!

The problem seems to be that you bought a Kindle with Special Offers, but you should have bought a standard Kindle.

font.properties-2 is used on FW 2.x, and font.properties-3 is used on FW 3.x. (The condensed one is used instead when the 'nocondesned' trigger file is present, and, AFAIR, replace the 'codensed' family with the classic Caecilia).

They do control which font ends up where in the [aA] menu (and, err, everywhere, basically) on both FW 2.x & FW 3.x, and in the browser on FW 2.x. (It's a wee bit more complicated on FW 3.x, since it's using fontconfig).

I don't think anyone here is going to help you break your licence with Amazon by using their 3G data connection for your computer.

I don't exactly get what you're trying to say. But let me rephrase. I have a jailbroken, usbnetwork-enabled Kindle 2 US (I don't live in the US). I want to use my computer internet on my Kindle through USB. I know it is possible but how?

FYI: I have jailbreak 0.7N
and USB Network 0.34N.

No worries. Go tethering enabled but there's a hitch. I can access the Kindle Store but can't browse any websites. Something wrong with the browser or what?

The browser in the Kindle 2 isn't wonderful, but it should manage most web sites.

I wonder - does your Kindle know that it's not in the US? (E.g. though the settings in your Amazon account or otherwise.)

If so, it might be blocking the sites itself, as it'll assume it's using its own network (mobile data) connection, not your internet connection.

You'll probably need to convince it that it's in the US for general browsing through your own internet connection.

Works for me, but what is the replacement font called that is used in the hack. I did not read all 125 pages here, it may have already been answered. I have heard one of the Georgia fonts looks good, and might use one of them.
