Hi all,
I have been coming to this site for a few weeks already and I really like those 7" MID's :P . And thought why not become a member. So far I have seen the w1060 and the SmartQ7 / V7. And I was wondering how the comparison between SmartQ V7 and w1060 would be. They both look awesome and are also a steal for the money. I don't want a netbook, but something which does have a long batterylife and is easy to carry and of course is low cost. So far the w1060 has WinCE which is good but I wonder whether it would get linux on it? The Smartq V7 does have 3 boot options although the android one doesn't work fully yet and also has WinCE and a Ubuntu derivative on ARM. I must say I really like Linux and I use Ubuntu on my pc as well therefore my hart goes towards SmartQ 7/V7. I am well aware that my software on my pc won't work fully on it even if it there is an ARM repository available. But I would like to experiment with it and try to improve it or just mess around with Linux. Long story short I would like to ask Coldsun how far he's got with his review of SmartQ V7. What I've seen and read so far was that it could be something I was looking for. And how does it compare to it's own brother SmartQ 7? I hope you will have your review done after X-mas and wish you and others a happy X-mas and a happy new year as well. I hope I am not rushing you on anything just have fun and the rest will come later. With kind regards of, Simyager |

Well I don't know I for one would like to have a 7" screen instead of a 5" but that is personal. And besides if your Nokia dies you still would have your warranty and with SmartQ well let's just say I don't want to think about it, but then again I haven't heard any negatives or broken devices. Only broken because they didn't ship it properly, but the person did get a new one I guess.
That's why it is sane to pay extra for insurance for those rare moments ![]() Edit: But still it is your decision and I know little about the n810 other then that the new maemo 5 (and up?)won't work but the Mer team is working on n810 as well as on the SmartQ. Edit2: I have an question for w1060 owners what type and what is the speed of the ram? Is it also 333MHz DDR2 like SmartQ V7 or slower? ![]() Last edited by Simyager; 12-23-2009 at 03:59 PM. Reason: maemo added |

Check process: Start--setting--control panel--BSP information Make sure whether the last capital letter is A or C, then use the right firmware for update.

![]() I got from a Chinese retailer a 4.8 inch, 480x272 resolution GPS that comes with a light version of windows ce5. Tried to read e-books (pdf) on the device but it was uncomfortable and strained my eyes a lot so maybe LCD readers are not for me after all or is it just the screen of this one that's not very good for reading? I got to see one of these 7 inch tablet devices from up close before I make up my mind. ![]() ![]() Last edited by skyline; 12-24-2009 at 03:06 PM. |

Kathy it's not my listing, but it looks like he has a best offer option. I would think that some people would be willing to pay a little more to buy from someone in the US rather than have to purchase directly from China. When I purchase mine from eletroworld.cn the shipping also cost me $35 which you have to take into consideration as well.

Shipping is not really a problem for me cause I now live in Hong Kong, I just called up a shop about V7 and they said that I have to order it (a month she siad?) and costs just under 2k HKD.... However as with everything that comes from China I just wonder if there are any warranties? |

I have another question :P about w1060. Can you put Linux on it? Like ARM Ubuntu? I really like Linux but now I'm thinking about the w1060 but it only has WinCE which is also great but Ubuntu is better :P ( personal thing
![]() The reason for my question is because with GPS and a 16GB SD card a w1060 is still $30 cheaper then SmartQ V7 with the same 16GB SD card, according to this site @Skyline:But a w1060 only accept T-flash(microSD) and not SD right? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In the (near? ![]() ![]() Edit: So w1060 doesn't come with storage? Or is it only enough for the WinCE and nothing else? Because otherwise it is impossible ![]() Last edited by Simyager; 12-25-2009 at 11:09 AM. |

By the way, there are rumors that 7 and 10 inch apple tablets are coming out soon. That would be interesting for many reasons.. Last edited by skyline; 12-25-2009 at 10:20 PM. |

@Skyline: Sorry about that joke if I offended or upset you
![]() About the price here where you said it was cheaper was actually $4 'more expensive'($274 total without a case). At this site it is $285 including shipping costs and a screen protector, usb charger and a case. And this site is selling for $270.68 with a case and free shipping. These where the prices I could see ![]() And which MID do you have Skyline? Or is that too personal ![]() Last edited by Simyager; 12-26-2009 at 08:42 AM. |

Well either way, I had been watching the Smartq V7 for a while before I saw the A81. If they can ever get Android to work and with all the components with it, then I think A81 might be in trouble. Everyone wants the Android. Right me personally I favor the A81, maybe because its seems more reliable. Either way, I'm staying patient (lol), and believing that Witztech will finish everything, working out all the bugs. Storage space, not too big of an issue, but of course as people we always want more. It would be cool to have a external HDD that you could connect via BT. (straight connection from BT to external) and transfer files that way. Just a thought
