3. I believe staying on 5.14 will be best, but if I'd ever update will I keep my JB? I know factory reset will get rid of it for sure.

1. No third party app could run without the jailbreak.
2. Yes, you can use it fully.
3. You can follow the steps described here and you will have the latest firmware to use.

I'll probably apply hotfix just in case and leave OTA disabled: I don't think there's anything worth updating right now and in forseeable future and if I would then factory reset would break JB so.... no need to do it right now IMO

You actually don't need so many restarts. I have jailbroken my 2 Kindle PW4 that were on 5.14.2 and updated to 5.14.3 and the jailbreak survived (you just don't see the fake Kindle Feedback document). It also survived multiple factory resets. Just make sure that after every operation (reset, upgrade) you reapply the latest JB hotfix and restart. Nothing else is needed!

Thank you @LittleBiG, i read all the instructions and had already tried hard rebooting, not sure why it didn't work the first time, but in the end i got it to work. I'm a total noob when it comes to these things, so i appreciate all the help in here!

One final question; So i now have a jailbroken KOA3 running 5.14.1 and have KOReader installed. After finishing all these steps, can i now safely connect to Wifi without the device firmware being upgraded automatically? Or do i need to install something else for that?

You do have to install K5 JailBreak Hotfix (you can find it here) and restart before you proceed and install any update. Make sure you reinstall the JB Hotfix after the update too. The exact same is necessary after factory reset.

I remember it being there and it is even linked in the original post, but now when I click the link I can only see the 5.14.2 update listed, anyone knows what's up with that?

Having some problems here, Sucefully jailbroken my Oasis 3 (14.2) and voyage (13.6), today I was reading on the Oasis and it froze, force restarted it and somehow it started instaling a update (even with OTArename active) followed by a kindle tree screen with kindle 12.x : ( or something on the bottom, after reboot KUAL displays "error starting aplication" I try to reinstall it with the ;log command, it do something, a icon flashes on the screen, but no sucess, system is still on 14.2 so it didn't installed a software update aparently, does someone knows how to make kual work again?

2. Reinstall the hotfix by copy Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.16.N_install.bin from JailBreak-1.16.N-FW-5.x-hotfix-220430 into your Kindle root folder and "Update Your Kindle".
3. <since your 'extensions' and 'mrpackages' folders stills intact, skip copy>
4. Copy Update_KUALBooklet_e3deabf_install.bin from KUAL-e3deabf-20220213-220501 (KUAL (coplate)) into your device /mrpackages.
5. Reinstall KUAL via ";log mrpi" command.
6. After reboot, KUAL icon will works again.

2. It shouldn't do, 5.14.2 has slightly more aggressive behavior though - it's worth grepping through the Upstart scripts to see how CHROME_CONFIG is managed on that version. You can get the old-old UI only on 5.14.1.1, with 5.14.2 you can only revert to the 5.13.7 style UI. The slider will match the UI version that you've set the device to use.
3. Probably not hard brick potential but I wouldn't advise this as it just wouldn't work. There's no payload for 5.14.0.1 as it's the initial firmware version but I'd still advise updating to 5.14.1.1 at a minimum as there's some stability issues on PW5 on versions prior to that.

@Katadelos Is there a way we can use the old UI? I'm on 5.14.1 on an OA2--any help would be much appreciated!

I came here to ask about this. It seems like they rolled back? Is this something those of us who already updated to 5.14.3 after jailbreaking should be worried about? Do we need to go back to 5.14.2?

Thanks! that worked. I just don't know why kindle decided to do that update randonly who broke everything.

I'm successfully jailbreak KV, KO2, K03. For now I have one issue only, is there is any chance to swap buttons behaviour? I found that can be done for Kobe, but I'm still looking for solution which will work on Kindle.

You seem to be right, I have checked and Amazon has removed firmware 5.14.3, and only 5.14.2 is available now.
Can someone confirm if the file has the same checksum as the same firmware posted before 5.14.3 launch?
