thanks for the instruction but did you mean mrpackages folder? because MRInstaller folder is inside the extension folder already..

How do we prevent the device from updating to newer firmware, or is it safe to update to newer firmware?

Has anyone been successful in reducing the left and right margins in PW5 (5.14.2)?
I've applied the changes described in this post, but they seem to only affect top margin and progress bar.

Hi, guys. Just a few questions:

1) I saw this on KOreader's github installation guide.

"IMPORTANT NOTE: Switching your device to USBMS mode (by plugging it to a computer over USB) while KOReader is running is entirely unsupported, and risks crashing in fun and interesting ways, both KOReader, and possibly the Kindle's underlying system. Recent KOReader versions make an attempt at avoiding complete and utter mayhem, but it's still not recommended to try to test that theory . If you need to charge your device while KOReader is running, either do it with a charger, or switch your device to USBNet mode first."

Can someone explain it better the USBNet part? How switch to it and exit from it as well.

2) The JB process went without a hitch. Is it safe to register the device again so i can get back the books sent via e-mail before Jailbreaking the device?

3) Will i still be able to email books like before?

Thanks to spacequince for his comprehensive write up of follow up steps in post 208 in this thread. Deserves to be on the first page.

Koreader has made great strides since I last used it many years ago, looks polished and clean and I am very happy about being able to attach notes to PDFs now. I mainly use my iPad Mini 6 and my Remarkable 2 for reading PDFs nowadays but I am so looking forward to being able to bring PDFs with me on trips where I wouldn’t bring these more delicate (and less water resistant) devices.

To everyone: enjoy this jailbreak and the possibilities that come with it.

I have a Kindle PW4 running 5.14.2. After factory resetting the device, I enter ";enter_demo" in the Kindle search bar, push the "-->" button (or "enter", or nothing, behavior is the same), and then reboot the device by holding down the power button until it reboots. When the kindle comes back up it does not enter demo mode.

Am I failing to follow directions properly, or is this behavior unexpected?

Thanks for this! on my PW5 (5.14.2) it works great.

At first on my wifes PW3 (5.14.2) Jailbreak and Kual worked,
I installed koreader and renameotabin to prevent OTA updates until I logged out of my account and logged in with my wife's account on the PW3.

After this, Kual stopped working (did not want to launch). Probably the file was deleted when switching accounts.

I've done a reset (factory), tried to install the jailbreak again, but can't get passed (post jailbreak) step "Select Update Your Kindle to install the custom hotfix".

Select Update is greyed out at my PW3. I tried a reset, installed the jailbreak again, but no success.

I think somehow the renameotabin plays a role even after a factory reset?
My other thought is that Amaz.on pushed something secretly to my PW3 (I suddenly had whispersync settings and some child lock settings) when I switched accounts. However software is still on 5.14.2

Anyone an idea?

Can I somehow execute the following to try to revert the renameotabin? e.g. by including it in the jailbreak file "payload" as I can't run Kual and don't want to brick the Kindle.
