Ho Chi Minh City looks a lot cleaner than I remember it back in the days when it was Saigon. Of course, I can't smell the city's air through a PC screen, but I remember a dingy city whose streets were filled with scooters, 3-wheeled Lambrettas, and smog. Cars were a rarity. I don't remember it being nearly that congested, though.

Just riding down the street from Long Binh was enough to set my teeth rattling! Night time was much more fun.

I wasn't there enough to remember the names of any streets. The most time I spent there was when a friend and I were scheduled to go on a 7-day R&R in Bangkok, Thailand. We got as far as Saigon where I hooked up with a professional lady. After spending all my money, she asked if I wanted to spend more time with her. She appeared to have taken a shine to me, because when I told her I had to go back early because I had spent all my money, she invited me to go home with her for the rest of the week where she'd feed me and take care of me. Funny, I can't remember now what my friend ended up doing.

Nice! I've discovered that Asian women are much friendlier than anywhere else in the world. Business only goes so far. Then friendship begins. It's a nice way to live. It's what kept me in Asia before I was married.
