Hi,
I've recently installed Plato on my Aura One and I'm very happy with it. The only issue I have is with the backlight feature, in particular with the warmth setting. It doesn't seem to be possible to entirely disable it, and the correlation between how 'warm' the light appears and the settings is not clear. This is especially noticeable on my unit as the backlight has some ugly green blotches at the bottom when the warm light is enabled. This didn't bother me on Nickel as I would always turn off the 'night light', and I would like to be able to do the same with Plato. I've tried to describe how the backlight appears with different settings: - Plato, intensity=5, warmth=0: very dim light, strong tint, almost red - Plato, intensity=5, warmth=1: very dim light, less strong tint, orange-y - Plato, intensity=20, warmth=0: dim light, orange tint - Plato, intensity=20, warmth=1: dim light, yellow tint - Nickel, intensity=1, warmth=0: dim light (intensity is about the same as plato's 20), uniform white color (or as good as it gets), no tint On the positive side, I like that the backlight intensity can be set to even lower than with Nickel. I'd be happy to provide further information to troubleshoot this. I can try to add pictures for the various presets I've described, but it's not easy to take pictures in uniform conditions. |

How does one check hightlights/notes for a book? On Nickel, one can check all hightlights/Notes for a given book. Is that not possible on Plato?

I have no such option. Here is what I did:
- Open epub book; - Book is fullscreen, so there is no title label; - Click in the middle of the book so both the top and bottom bar are shown; - In the top bar, I see the "Go back" button, the book's title (is this the title label?), time, battery, brightness and general menu; - Click in the book's title; - The only option shown is "Apply dithering" What am I doing wrong? I have Plato 0.9.19. |

Nevermind. I see that one has to have Anotations for the menu to be shown. If my posts were showing, I could have edited this in the post itself.

Any chance that you'll add an option to have custom margins? I hate all the wasted space of all the margin options provided by default.
Perhaps there's a way to set these margins wider and longer, but I'm missing how to do that. I have a ClaraHD, I HATE wasted space all around, could you tell me the right settings for this please? Last edited by jasius; 11-03-2021 at 01:45 AM. |

Wouldn't it be better for you to work out how many millimetres you wanted to set the margin as? This is about what you want the screen layout to be. It will be a little bit of trial-and-error until you get that looks right to you.

Well that's really annoying, I thought the person that made the program would have direct first hand knowledge of this information.

What the person who made the program does not know is how each individual user want the program configured. They don't know how you want the screen to be laid out. The margins that are being talked about are how much space is to be left empty around the text. Different people like different amounts of space. So you have to set it to what you want. Looking back at your original post, as you don't like the wasted space, try setting them to zero. And if you really want to know the size of the screen, the best way to find that out would be to get a ruler and measure your ereader. |

We have no programmatical way of computing the screen's physical dimensions, FWIW.
We *should*, but the data is set to bogus values by Kobo's OEM (whereas, for instance, it's accurate on Kindles). |

@NiLuJe:
I've attached a binary of Plato that should run on the Sage. It was slightly modified so that the initial view is Rotation Values. Please follow the instructions and post the resulting eight lines of the form Tap (X, Y) (W, H) that you'll find at the end of info.log. EDIT: The application now logs the inferred startup rotation and mirroring scheme (I've updated the binary). Last edited by baskerville; 11-08-2021 at 05:49 AM. |
