Hi, I love your Sketch App.
Only, the "Refresh" button doesn't work. Therefore there is always some ghosting.
Could you fix this in a future update?
Thanks!

P.S.: your work is amazing and Plato has even a better UI than KOReader and Nickel

Yes and the underlying bug is fixed in 0.9.1: thank you for the report.

You might still encounter problems due to the poor formatting that plagues many dictionaries.

I would recommend using sdunpack (I've added binaries for Linux and macOS) and dictfmt over PyGlossary for the following reasons:
 • You'll be able to unpack a dictionary using dictunformat (dictunformat --headword-separator '|' name.index < name.dict > name.txt), fix typos and formatting mistakes in the source file and regenerate the dictionary using dictfmt.
 • When Plato gathers the dictionary names, it will only load the section of the index that contains the metadata entries.
 • The index won't be sorted: it already is.

You might ask for help with the formatting problems in this thread.

Thanks. I can in fact reproduce on both my devices: the expected black flash is absent. It used to work. I'll investigate.

Annotations

Hello,

I'm wondering if there's been any progress on annotation support with plato?

The project seems very promising, great work.

Yes there was: annotations are supported since 0.7.7.

My converted dictionaries (see post 569) show all definitions now (v 0.9.1). Thank you very much!

Text after
isn't visible in the definition. Replacing
by
did solve the problem. I encountered no other issues so far.

After starting Plato, the first time I open the dictionary, the dictionary is opening rather slowly (delay of 5-10 sec). I think this wasn't the case in v 0.9.0?
Is this because of only loading the section with metadata entries now in v 0.9.1?
No problem for me (delay only the first time opening the dictionary). I mention this only to be sure, and to better understand the working of the program.

I think there is a little bug in the dictionary module:
When I touch X (the icon on the far right of the search bar), the dictionary returns to the text of the book, instead of deleting the content in the search bar (which is the intention of X I suppose?).

As I said before, if you don't generate the dictionaries with dictfmt, you will experience an additional delay caused by the normalization process.

The X is a close button for the search bar, since the dictionary's search bar isn't optional, closing it also closes the dictionary view.

I was looking for a method to clear the search bar with one tap.
I see now that long pressing the left X button in the keyboard, does the job and deletes the content of the search bar (didn't know this before).
So, problem solved. Thanks.

sdunpack

Many of my stardict files have a .syn file (list of synonyms).
As far as I know, this isn't taken into account by sdunpack.

Is it possible to implement this in sdunpack ?
Or is their another way to solve this?

I've released a new version that supports an optional synonyms file path passed as second argument.

Hello,

there is way to see the version of the current app in the device ?
I have looking for an "about" menu for example but i don't found it.

Do you think that your app could be translated into another language (french for example ) ?

Thank you

I need Plato to access my sideload books folder and show the folder substructure as it is. How does the [[libraries]] section need to look like in this case? I replicated one example from the Settings.toml file, but it parses the whole folder and shows all books ignoring the folder substructure. Probably the mode and sort-method entries? Thank you.
