I am having an issue on my device. Whenever I (accidentally) enable the rotation function, the touches on the screen are rotated 180 degrees of where they should be. If on the menu, I must somehow exit the program to reset, by tapping where the buttons are not, and if reading a book, I have to manually edit .metadata.json to reset the 'rotation' key. I can provide a video of this bug if you need, because there's not really a way to screenshot this.

@7596ff: Is the base FW on your H2O up to date?

I seem to recall having tested all scenarios back in the day, and it used to work.

I'll check again with the current release.

Could you post the contents of /mnt/onboard/.kobo/version?

Within the home view, can you, for each rotation value, from 0 to 270, answer the following questions:
  • When the device is held in portrait mode (with the logo at the bottom), where is the main menu?
  • When you tap the main menu, which UI element receives the tap?

@7596ff / @baskerville: Yup, everything's still okay on my end on the original H2O, even the quirky invert swaps (on 4.18).

@7596ff: Is this actually the *original* H2O, or is that an H2O²?

EDIT: Duh. Just saw the device entry in your profile. Yes, yes it is an H2O², hence the request for your version file to check which one it is .

Hi baskerville. Love your work, think I got the same bug as 7596ff tho.
  • In the three alternative rotations I get one and the same interaction-output (explained below) - Each time I tested a rotation and then Rebooted the device.
  • However, if I (without reboot) manage to navigate (after I gone from default 270 to 180), and flip-it-back to 270, the menu is at the bottom (same interaction-outputs as below).

VERSION:
Code:
N867740033469,3.0.35+,4.18.13737,3.0.35+,3.0.35+,00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000374
1. Portrait mode, where is the main menu?
2. Tap main menu, which UI element responds?

270 - (default)
Code:
1. Main menu is on top part of the screen (footer at the botom).
2. The intended UI element.
180
Code:
1. Main menu is on right part of the screen.
2. The hamburger-menu gives nothing
Brightness gets response from "# books"
   Search toggles to page 2
"Sort by" opens keyboard with "Go to page"-input form.
90
Code:

My version file is somehow completely empty. But I share all the other characteristics with Brahman.

I am sorry for the late reply.

Rotate function and interface works great in 0.7.9. Thanks!
I just had to flip my books-in-process to the new default set of 90º, Cheers, great work

v0.7.9 notes specify the framebuffer parameters were fixed on H2O Edition 1, but the issue was having was fixed for me and I have an edition 2. Additionally, I have posted an issue on the GitHub repository with regards to annotations. https://github.com/baskerville/plato/issues/76

The fix was for the Aura H₂O Edition 2 Version 1: there are two versions of the Edition 2.

I read in the release notes for 0.7.9 that "Remount the external SD card RW if it's mounted RO."
Is this only when I have restarted Plato, when I'm in Nickel after quitting Plato?
Because now when I quit Plato and Nickel starts, the SD card is not recognized by Nickel until I've rebooted the device.
If I start Plato again (without reboot), then Plato sees the SD card all right.
Is it possible to remount the SD card with RW when quitting Plato, so Nickel can access it without the need of a reboot?
I have the original H2O with the latest firmware.

Could you try the updated nickel.sh? (It normally resides in .adds/plato.)

The SD card is now seen by Nickel after quitting Plato, even though the error message about SD card is still popping up.
I can see that the book count (internal + external storage) is correct before I click the OK button of the error message.
So everything works, just the error message that is showing. But I can live with that.
