I have never seen that with Firefox for any site that I also use a metadata source plugin for. I see it on other sites, but, it has nothing to do with my calibre usage. Which of the sites calibre can get metadata from do you see this?

I only get hassled like this if I am using a VPN. Google is particularly egregious.

Over the first year (2010) I used a barcode scanner and added 910 books in my paperback library. I also had a flatbed scanner for when covers were not found or did not match my edition. I also had to search for many Pre-ISBN books and do those the harder way )
Actually, the ducks, after sleeping on what you said, when both Firefox and Chrome did the same-type pop-up puzzle boxes with "Google" in their corner, in the back of my mind I thought that odd they used the same thing, I woke up around 2 am and it occurred to me that the pop-up's must have been coming from our DNS - Spectrum.

Is this a good or bad thing?
Note: I live in the US, currently use Comcast(Xfinity), but have previously had Sonic and Earthlink broadband service
Or is it as @chaley surmised. VPN usage?

San Antonio here, Spectrum.

Not sure what to tell you myself. I'm about as knowledgeable as a kitten walking across the keyboard. :/ I don't use a VPN, myself. And I usually work something out by trail and error. But, yeah, I feel confident in saying now, it's coming from Spectrum.
