Attach Keyboard to M96 ??

Has anyone been able to attach a keyboard to the M96 ? Either bluetooth or wired?

Would prefer wired if possible.

There must be some app where one can type up documents, and save them.

I do not have the M96, but I have successfully paired an Apple Bluetooth wireless keyboard to my T68. As I type there is a visual lag due to the e-ink, of course, but it is not really that bad. Turning on the A2 mode helps as well if you are a fast typist.

Just tested connecting of keyboard and mouse via USB to Onyx Android devices. Works on both T68 and M96. I am using External Keyboard Helper Pro app. Everything works as expected.

How exactly do you connect USB keyboard and mouse?
Do you need a USB OTG cable and powered hub?

Can you recommend a setup that works, please?

Actually I didn't bother a lot with testing of external keyboard functionality. I just took regular USB cable and MicroUSB-to-USB converter. In first step I have installed External Keyboard Helper Pro app. Afterwards connected my desktop keyboard+mouse receiver. The mouse and keyboard could be used immediately. I did not play much with settings, but I remember it was quite simple.

I see. I did not find it that easy on the M96, but I will try and play around with it again.

Many thanks for the vid. For that vid, did you use normal grey-scale mode, or did you use monochrome A2 non-flash refresh mode? If it is not the second, could you make a vid using A2 mode? This is a tech that interests me greatly.

Well, just want to say I cannot get wired USB to work on the M96. Tried a couple of different adapters but no luck.

At least bluetooth works fine.

Hey there,

i did get two different bluetooth keyboards to work with the M96 without problems. But I did not manage to get the keyboard settings to a german keyboard, and this with both keyboards. I tried to and did change the settings from android and the keyboard to german and the keyboard has a german layout. Still it is writing an "z" for an "y" and cannot find the symbols right.
And the general setting of the M96 is german, too. Cannot find the mistake.

Could anybody help me or say what I could try to change this?

Hmm, USB wired keyboard doesn't work for me either on T68.
Booxtor, do you think anything special is needed for this to work ?
I run your firmware, latest update. I tried both a simple microUSB-USB convert and an OTG one.
Enabled/disabled USB Debug option.
The T68 just doesn't see the keyboard...

Same with me. Can you connect a USB flash drive through the OTG?

I have Booxtor's T68, with update from september 26h, USB keyboard hooked up through an OTG adapter, with the Expternal Keyboard Helper app installed. The keyboard is not even detected. Neither is a simple flash drive.

A bluetoooth keyboard does get connected, but I would prefer a USB one. I am starting to get worried that my reader has faulty hardware

I have tried some more and wired USB keyboard still doesn't work.
Some debugging apps report that USB host mode is not supported.
It's possible that at some point the firmware had the needed components/drivers, but they got removed/forgotten to be included in the meantime.

That would be really bad news. Booxtor, any comments? It did work for you in the first video, so - is it really the case that the firmware no longer has the USB host drivers? And, if so, is there any chance of us gettng them back?

Hello Booxtor,

I am wondering what are the devices you were using in your video. Would you mind posting the reference of your keyboard, mouse and receiver?

Is your mini-usb-to-usb cable is OTG cable?

Then, at least we would know what configuration works on the boox m96 that is not bluetooth equiped.

I have tried to plug my keyboard to the boox M96 with a OTG adapter but the keyboard is not recognised at all. I'm experience what everyone say.

This keyboard + micro-usb OTG cable works perfectly on my rooted nook with USB host.

Thanks for your help.
