I do know the modify epub plugin can do it, but that is something you must remember to do... which i often forgot.
It would be so perfect if it could be done while transferring (I use the driver for epubs to so not for kepubs only..)
I do use the extended css, only to find out that a xpgt file overrides it all..
It would be such a great enhancement when you have a choice to remove those stupid files when transferring the book to the reader !!
Regular use of the Quality Check PI to help you remember to do this and other cleaning

Downloaded from where on the Internet? The Internet is a big place with lots of places to download things from, some less legitimate than others.

Do you have a book using XPGT you could send me? I took a quick look at what they're for and how they're referenced and it looks like I might be able to add that as a cleanup option, but I'd like a book that uses them, legally purchased from an authorised distributor and stripped of DRM, to make sure I deal with them correctly. If you've got a book or two like that, I'll give you a link to upload the ePub files to.

hmm.. just did a bulk strip of 1790 books, but that isn't a problem at all.. so if you can provide me an address .. The author of the Modify Epub plugin has added the "remove adobe .xpgt (always named page-template.xpgt) option, but there you must do it manually.. maybe it can point you in the right direction ? I have 8 legal books ready for you with the file in it.

Are your sure that the .xpgt files are used by the kepub reader? They are an Adobe specific file used by for ADE and the RMSDK. I would expect them to be ignored by the kepub reader.

I am in bed now and must go to the hospital tomorrow for 8 hours again so hope I can check it, but I mentioned the kepubs because I use the extended driver for both kepubs and epubs, if the maker only build it in for kepubs then I have the problem still with epubs... I can try easy if the kepub reader use the files also and report that back tomorrow but it depends how late dialysis is ready..

All ePub I've editing that include a .xpgt file, the .xgpt file is only used to specify margins. It can be used for other things but the publishers seem to only use it for margins. Rather stupid (IMHO) because it's just easier to use the CSS to handle margins.

I send you 8, specially the Bert Muns book is terrible, you can change in .css what you want, the xpgt file force it to display with page margins all around, almost 1 cm on every side..

@davidfor I gonna try to convert it into an kepub to see what happens, but I use only epubs on my reader (no shop sells kepub here, not even Kobo.)

If you aren't sending the books as kepubs, what functions of the extended driver are you using? Some of the functions would be better done on the file in your library so that it is there for any device you use.

And just for the record, I found an epub in my library that had an xpgt file in it. I changed the margins it defined to something very noticeable and converted it to kepub. Then I put both the epub and kepub versions on my Glo HD. As I expected, only the epub reader used the xpgt file. The kepub reader ignores it.

Ok then i don't have to try it on kepubs when i am home.
I have 3 glo's (2 hd and one normal one) and I use the extended features mainly for my wife who likes the kepubs more because of the stats, so I use the extended driver because it is simple to switch to epub and kepub rather then enable yours and disable the extended one, in stead I only switch the enable kobo extended features.
For sure I can use 3 plugins to do it local but she likes indent, I don't, she likes justify, I don't.. she likes hyphenation, I don't.. so then i have to keep 2 versions of an epub or kepub, now I just make some switches in the plugin and we have both what we want.. I could do it with the Catherine Cookson books.. I hope you don't imagine me to read those

It might be just me but I wonder about feature creep in some of these plugins. For instance I feel a plugin like this should have the bare minimum set of functions, those required to create a kepub format file, no more no less.

Hmm.. yes and no.. this extra option I ask is for the writer of the plugin to deside if he would make it or not. (no intention of being rude here)
Basically if the plugin was only limited to make a kepub, you would still need another driver to put it on to the reader, so this plugin does both, transfer the file to the reader and make an kepub ( or create first then transfer )
The normal plugin that transfers, has also a lot of side options to enable or disable so they are in this extended plugin to,or you need them still both.
I can only imagine that other people like me, or the author was thinking, what if...
If the extra options are not there, the need would be there for a second or third plugin that handles those extra functions.
So at the end, multiple creators would be making multiple plugins with a great chance that by difference in programming, plugins will interfear with each other,or people are being busy for weeks only to see that another person has made the same..

If you only want a plugin that makes the kepub, then disable all other functions and there it is..
Again not being rude, but then you can say to the makers of Sigil, stop this program, the functionality is already in Calibre, or vice versa.
Plugins are addons to make things more easy, it is the same with a lot of patches for Kobo, you can reach the same goal by editing the books.. for example, the patch to disable all .css can be reached by editing all books and delete the whole .css
Hyphenate can be disabled by entering the right values into the .css.
Getting book info to update metadata can also being done by search on Google, copy and paste it.
But those plugins can do it for you, automate the process, help you to not use 20 programs at all,or help people that don't know how to edit the books and can have it done by just placing or removing an option in one program without the knowledge..thanks to the powers of the options in the plugin..
We can also forget the whole calibre, write everything on paper and copy and paste the books into the reader... but thanks god, someone made the program and the plugins for us to do it... where is the limit, that is up to the maker and the user...

Appearently not, I use your driver for both epub and kepub, maybe i wasn't clear about that, my wife uses the kepub format, I use all the time the epub format (so I don't use the kobotouch plugin at all,it is disabled.) and I use your driver to "feed" all 3 readers. I didn't knew that the build in kepub reader ignores the XPGT files..it is hard to remember that there are 2 readers in one device.
But because I use your plugin for epub,I asked if you could build it in.. Did I done something terrible wrong here by thinking that it can be fixed by your driver ?
Main thought was, if it erase the xpgt files on both outputs, the outcome is the same, the kepub doesn't look for it at all appearently so it will not miss it,and the epub benefits great for it ? I was talking about epub all the time...
