There is no difference. Kindle Previewer includes kindlegen and uses it to produce MOBI files.

Today I found mobi, azw, prc and txt files could be downloaded via the browser of kindle. I tried to change the suffix of my kfx ebook to .mobi on the http server side. However, after the ebook was downloaded successfully from the server, the kindle did not recognize it.

Is there a way to workaround the limit so that kfx files can be downloaded via kindle browser?

Amazon has released Kindle Previewer version 3.63.1. It is compatible with the current release of this plugin.

Kindle Previewer latest versions is 3.63.1. I just checked on the version tonight it the latest update I got for it.

I noticed that the history plugin here shows an older version 3.62.0 listed as last supported, I wanted to ask if a newer plugin version is needed now for Kindle KFX Output or input plugins if it needs updates for calibre software. Below from it, and why I am asking if a update is needed or not for using with the current version, I haven't look or updated it for awhile so I don't know for sure how long 3.63.1 been out for, been offline playing games on my xbox one, I just been going on my pc today and updating stuff.

All things considered, assuming I could get a book in either file type, would it be better to convert from azw3 to kfx or ePub to kfx? Also, the kindle previewer is necessary for the kfx conversion to work, correct? Thanks a lot for your time!

AZW3 or EPUB are both good sources for conversion. The result should be about the same either way.

The Kindle Previewer must be installed for conversion to KFX. Details are the the first post of this thread.

it may help to turn on show full kindle previewer conversions logs , I also like to click on create approximate page numbers and/or include kindle preview quality reports, in the settings for KFX Output in calibre.

but for this question, I would say it works best with epub to kfx, because the kfx output plugin or kindle previewer will take say if you convert a mobi to kfx, it will first convert mobi to epub anyway before it outputs it to a kfx file, so no matter what you are working with say azw3 goes to epub before its converted into a kfx file, that's just how the kfx output software in calibre works, I think thats also how kindle previewer does it, first into a epub format then it goes into a kfx container file format.

I hope I helped explain its processing of epub to kfx files, no matter the source you work from in calibre it can be even a pdf to epub then kfx I think that best explains this plugin or kindle previewer.

Sometimes, when I look up a word of a KFX ebook in the dictionary, then open dictionary, then page down serveral times, then go back via "go back button", I am navigated to the previous page, not the current page I'm reading.(BTW, I use kindle oasis2).

Does anyone see this phenomenon?

Does anyone see this phenomenon?

I am able to duplicate this problem. Sometimes it ends up on the previous page and other times on the next page.

I will look into it further and see whether anything can be done to prevent it.


Added: After restarting my Kindle I can no longer make this problem occur. Perhaps you can try that and see if it also fixes it for you.

The restart works for me as well.

I'm curious to expect what operations on my kindle can make this problem occur again.
