If was looking at the USB scripts and I was wondering: why aren't you using /usr/local/Kobo/udev/usb instead?

The original reason was that it is easier to have for each command in the menu a separate script file. This way I can just copy a script file into a certain folder in order to create a menu item. Otherwise, I would have to create the menu item manually and associate it with a script and one or more arguments. Therefore, I split the one usb script into two, one for connecting, the other for disconnecting.

i just updated my wife's H2O to latest firmware, 4.7.1013. And also added KSM patch afterwards: KSM08_ext_aura_one_05b.zip

As i don't use much(i use KA1), i noticed that when i leave Nickel to go back to KSM, then select USB, the screen is upside down, and seems to not respond to touch. To get bac, i hold down power button to turn off, then on, and when KSM restarts, the USB screen looks oriented properly.

I also tried going into KOReader,and exiting, then checking USB, ok. Also checked Cool Reader, and exited, and USB screen ok. And lastly, it appears to occur whenever it launches into Nickel, then upon exiting, and trying USB, or any other screen, they are upside down?

Again though, if i restart fresh, and dont use nickel,seems fine..
As my wife doesnt use KSM, us turns on and let it default to Nickel, she will prob never notice it..

Just wondering if this is a known issue?

My KA1 does not exhibit this behaviour..

Thank you for the detailed information, John. The problem is known to exist on Aura HD and H2O. I did try to find a solution with the help of a user, but this did not lead to success.
I thought about a way to let users do easily and safely experiments by themselves in order to find a solution to the rotation problem. I think I have figured something out that is practicable. I have still to finalise it. Actually, I think I will go a step further and release a KSM 09 test version rather soon.

While not for everyone, I find that just not using Nickel solves many potential problems. Also, never "updating" the Kobo firmware has kept my AuraHDs running fine. (I remain on a 3.x firmware). I would try to help with these recent issues, but being on a firmware that doesn't create such problems and one that makes my results less than useful, for those using current firmware, I don't see it as a productive endeavor. Sorry, I can't be of any help.

Thank you for your offer. In some days, I will go to the country side and stay there for the rest of the year. So I am not sure whether I can finish the package before next year.

No problem. I can undestand this very well. But I will need some users that use older FWs. I do not want to break backward compatibility down to 2.6.0.

I got it from a few versions ago but I don't exactly if it's ksm or nickel related: Whenever I exit nickel to ksm (or switch directly to koreader) via the related .png (exit_nickel.png) in nickel, I got a reversed menu in ksm half the time: the first menu is OK, the second is reversed, the third is OK, the fourth is reversed and so on.

I already applied the latest patch (05b) to my ksm 08. And reinstalled 08 + patch just to be sure. Is there anything else I can try to get rid of this?

I use fw 4.6.9995 with KSM 8 on my kobo aura one KA1
I feel like the 05b patch makes my battery empty faster. Did anyone else report something like this?
I'm back to 04e and things seem to work better. Just thought I share it.

This is an old problem that was solved at some point, but reappeared with more recent FW updates. There is no solution yet. I would power the device off after using nickel. I know that this is not very convenient. I hope we can find a solution for this.

I think you are the only one who reports this. Since feed back is generally poor since some time, that does not mean much.
I cannot find anything in 05b that could explain battery drain.

Did you try 5b again? I do not think that it can cause battery train. Maybe there was something other causing it at that time that has changed since then. I would try 5b again.
