I realise now, that's how it's supposed to work. But I don't have a sleep/wake case so I'm stuffed now.
Try editing the KoboReader.conf file and setting the screenshots line to false. Plugging your Kobo in will wake it up so you can access and edit the file in the .kobo/Kobo directory. Remember the NickelMenu option toggles that line between true and false. What I do is to toggle to enabled, do the screenshot(s) and then toggle to disabled.

Perhaps a naive question, but I couldn't find an answer easily through the search feature. How do I remove the 'config' file from the 'My Books' screen without deleting it entirely? I'm just using a regular .txt file for config.

Add a file that you don't want to index in
Code:
[FeatureSettings]
ExcludeSyncFolders=

Or don't use a text extension on the file; either no extension or maybe a .conf

A LIST OF SOME COMMON NICKELMENU ENTRIES
for people to copy-paste

NOTES:
* DEFAULT ITEMS GET OUT OF ORDER: The only thing I haven't managed to do is keep the default menu items in order with my added ones. Perhaps someone can advise? Perhaps you have to create your own entries for them? But that might produce duplicates?

* I have pasted the entire nickelmenu document I created
* Location: [top folder of Kobo]\.adds\nm

* I called my document 'Z all'. I presume I did this to try to put my menu entries AFTER those entries for koreader, Plato and Kobo unchanged. These create their own menu docs within the nm folder. I expect there is a way I could incorporate them into my own menu, but I didn't want to mess with them and I'm fine with them being at the top. I wonder if there is any crucial thing you would need to do to safely put them in your own menu doc?

_____________________________________________
THE TEMPLATE FOR ALL ENTRIES

FYI the template for all Kobo entries is:
menu_item:<location>:<label>:<action>:<arg>

<location> meaning what menu it goes on: for example whether its on the MAIN menu, READER or BROWSER
<label>: the name you want in your menu
<action>: the action it does
<argument>: the subset of that

For proper info see this page - thankyou Patrick Gaskin! Main site
_____________________________________________
THE FULL TEXT OF MY NICKELMENU FILE (with the exceptions of the bits in red)
The purpose and menu name for each entry is in green.
For example, the first entry is 'Browser' (popup)
If you were to adopt all of it, just paste this into the file (after deleting the red bits)

Hey guys, help a noob out please.

I've added a menu item to quickly toggle wifi on/off from the reader screen:
menu_item :reader :Wifi :nickel_wifi :toggle

How do i get it to display message "wifi on" or "wifi off"?

Config Help

Hello,

Long time lurker and Kobo Reader, I'm in need of some help.

So here's the skinny I have the nickel installed to my Libra, but I'm losing my mind creating the config file. I created a file called config-nickel-menu.text located in the KOBOeReder\.adds\nm\congig.

My objective is to only want to add the new dark mode toolge.

I'm just not sure what I need to put inside the config file.

Inside my file I have the following.

# menu_item :main ark Mode :nickel_setting :toggle :dark_mode
# menu_item :reader: Dark Mode :nickel_setting :toggle :dark_mode

Can someone share what they have in theres and I can copy and paste/modify. My device does not see the config.

If you begin your menu lines with a number sign (#), they are ignored -- they're treated as comments. Remove the number signs and it should work.

Yes, but if you want to use the new dark mode toggle get the one in post 555 of this thread. Not sure if geek has updated the release version yet.

Thank you very much.

Dark mode works in ereader/book screen but not in Main/home screen. is that how it works? I am using a Libra. If i enable dark mode in main/homescreen nothing changes in it but ereader/book screen turns in to dark mode.
