On the Kindle, less than 5" of the available 6" diagonal screen is used for displaying the ebook's contents. The rest is used to give a distinctive look and feel. So, a 5" screen can be almost as good as 6" providing you are willing to forgo margins and other "frills".
This would be an excellent target for OpenInkpot. I have been wrong before about battery capacities, but this device seems to have a larger battery than the DR1000, makes me wonder if iRex has got the battery all wrong - again. |

A 1500mAh battery is a surprisingly high capacity. The CyBook, for example, manages very well with its 1000mAh battery.

No, but it isn't, but it looks it...
See here ... and will probably feel it too. Postcards above are slightly shorter than the Hanwang, but have been referenced off the top edge of the Cybook to compensate. I think it'll appeal to a lot of people who read during the commute. Cheers, Pete Last edited by petermillard; 09-25-2008 at 10:08 AM. Reason: edited to replace "image" tags with the url. |

1. This device does NOT support "any" of the current ebook file formats such as mobi, epub, or eReader. 2. This device does NOT support "any" of the current ebook DRM schemes, see item 1. 3. This device is not available world wide. (yet?) My questions about this device are: 1. Does it have dictionary support? (The jetbook does). 2. Does it support PDF reflow? 3. Is the battery replaceable? 4. Does it support folders? (Jetbook does) However, the price seems right. I would rather get this device over the Jetbook. A $200 5inch eInk device to me is much more desirable than a $300 5inch LCD device. Supporting Mobi, even nonDRM version would be nice. But, as someone said, maybe this would run some open source OS or reader to make up for the format issues. BOb |

I applaud diversity in the marketplace. And I can see how this size might be better for carrying in a woman's purse.
Like many of you, I am not a likely buyer. I find my Sony reader fits just fine in my hard and soft briefcases or any of my backpacks, saddle bags, and tankbags (motorcycling). Otherwise my reader is on my car's passenger seat or in-hand. I'm thinking a smaller reader would not be more convenient for me. |

Without DRM support, it means that the average person won't be able to get current books for it. I know most people here know of the tools to remove DRM and cona probably convert content to HTML for use on this thing. But without supporting some current eBook format, it's mostly a paperweight.

For the purpose of comparision, you can buy a PRS-505 in no more than ¥2200 in China... so apparently this N510 is overpriced... |
