Convert college e-books to K3 (small edition)?

I can print the books to PDF and view them natively on the K3 but they're really tiny. I tried zoom and pan but that's tedious (my wife will be using it and it's got to be simpler than using a remote control ). I've spent hours and hours trying different programs (many found right here on this forum) to convert to various formats but none really do a great job. The books have complex formatting with images and graphics. Any help would be appreciated. We only bought the Kindle for this and if we can't use it, it's going back.

Thanks!

Welcome to MobileRead, Charade.

If this is what you bought the K3 for, you really need to return it and upgrade to the DX.

My SIL uses his for textbook PDF's and they read beautifully. Unfortunately, the K3 really isn't suited for pdf reading, regardless of what is said.

Welcome to MR! For PDFs, have a look at the Kindle DX, the Pocketbook 902 or 903, the Entourage Edge or perhaps an iRex product or the 9 inch Pixelar m-reader. If you don't mind a non e-ink screen, there is always the iPad to consider. If you really want a 6 inch screen, take a look at the Sony PRS-650. I don't think that you will be happy with the Kindle 3 if you plan on using it mostly for scanned PDFs.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm not sure if we want to spend a couple of hundred bucks for a larger reader. I will let her try it as it is and see what she thinks.
