iSilo4B1 PalmOS Menubar Bug

I've been using iSilo for quite some time, and am also a fan of the v3bHack for Clies which allows me to get high-density icons on my device.

I've noted with the new iSilo release that sometimes I get no icons on the toolbar when viewing an iSilo document. I'm guessing that it has something to do with v3bHack.

What I can do repeatably is while reading a document attempt to access the Font menu via a command stroke /O and not get the Font page to appear. If I then use the menu button to activate the menu bar, the Options|Font menu is highlighted (but tapping it does nothing).

At this point if I tap one of the icons in the toolbar, it disappears (only to return after a soft reset) from use. I still have the ability to tap where the icon used to be and get the corresponding action.

I'm running a Clie T615C with PalmOS 4.1 and as mentioned the v3bHack (it really makes the toolbar icons nice and crisp). I never saw any of this behavior (OK, just the diappearing icons) in iSilo 3.35. I can't bear to get lores icons in iSilo, and prefer not to have to disable v3bHack for iSilo.

Anyone else seen this?

I have the same Clie and also use that hack. I am having no problems with the icons, and just tried to replicate your problem. I didn't have a problem with 3.35 or any previous version either....

It sounds like you're assuming the hack is the problem. Have you actually disabled it to make sure? (I did, and you're totally right -- it looks so much better with v3b...but then everything does!

)

Another idea might be to wipe iSilo out with something like Uninstall Hack and then reinstall the beta.

Yup. Disabled v3bHack in X-Master. Went back into iSilo, opened a document and issued a /O and lo and behold... no Font prefs opened, and when I tapped the Sheets icon to enable copying text, the icon disappeared. Exitted the current document, opened the another... no icons in the toolbar.

So, it's clearly not related to v3bHack. I run so few others... I'll disable them all, and see if it corrects the issue.

Nope... disabled all my hacks; if I issue a /O the problem is still there. It's interesting that using the menu bar to do the same things works fine.

Interesting... I've tracked it down!

It seems by having the option for PGP Mobile 2.0 to allow there to be access to PGP on the command bar, that causes the issue!

Guess I'll need to see if I can submit this to PGP Corp as a bug!

Not to reply to myself again here, I just wanted to add the following:

I brought this to Darren's attention yesterday afternoon (about 1430 my time) and by 1649 my time Darren had developed a fix which he says will be in the next beta release.

This is customer satisfation at its greatest!

Kudos to Darren and iSilo!!
